Aftermarket titanium exhausts also help. Test pipes remove like 30 lbs because of the stock cats. Aftermarket headers are lighter than stock "cast iron" manifolds.

I actually took my front bumper support off, the big aluminum piece. I also ran my winshield wipers until the fluid ran out so next up is the lightweight battery.

You really took that aluminum bumper off?

I had my bumper off the other day, but think that piece can significantly absorb any impact.

If its my time to go, its my time to go. lol

Plus, I hate the area for the tow hook.

That aluminum piece will save your engine from significant damage in a minor crash. Then again, I rather have my car totalled in an accident rather than having some crappy body shop turn it into frankenstein.

So I thought I would bump this thread again for an update.

I went to the drag strip this last Sunday with the local Z club and weighed my car after a run.... 2905 lbs without me in it... Only had about 3-4 gallons of gas....

I'm not sure what all I had removed when I posted this thread... but here is where I'm at now. Picture should describe most of it pretty well....

Also have a 11.5 lbs braille battery. It has worked just fine so far.

I still have the stock exhaust, wheels, and flywheel for now... can't make up my mind on a lot of things....

Just 900 lbs less and you'll be as light as my nearly stock car.

Your stock 17" wheels and exhaust are very heavy suckers... Get rid of them..

Roast,
So what did you run in the 1/4 mile?

I can only imagine how loud your ride is. Mine has nothing taken out and I think it's pretty loud.

if i were you i would look into a light weight flywheel and some test pipes.

Right there is a savings of around 30lbs.....give or take a few.

Speak of the devil..

I installed v2 helix test pipes last weekend...

I'm not real happy with them. o2 bungs are in a stupid location, and the brace does not line up with the mount.... not to mention it sounds like a fart can deluxe... I've got a rattle too... sounds like it's coming from the ypipe or the muffler... I think a Y-pipe is next on my list and we will see how that goes....

love the extra power and less weight... I can feel both...

1/4 mile? ran a 13.8@102.7 2.1 60ft..... 100% stock I usually ran around 14.1-14.2 at 98-99 mph (typical stock Z times at this track, 1000ft DA and no track prep) so I dropped .3-.4 ET and gained about 3-4 mph...

I will probably go to the track this Friday and see what the test pipes did...

30lbs sounds about right to me.

Also - stock y-pipe back exhaust weighs 49lbs. JIC Spartan Titanium weighs 9 and sounds dead sexy

Just wondering...do you think all that weight reduction was worth it considering your results?

Well, they say every 100 pounds of weight lost gets you .1 second in the quarter mile. With a lightweight battery and exhaust you can save right around 100 pounds. Our cars are pigs as it is. Less weight + more power from the exhaust, y-pipe and tp's with minimal investment = WIN

Jim: It'll vary from car to car. With our cars every ~12lbs shed equals about 1HP. 50-60lbs should net an additional .100 shaved from the 1/4.

Roast: Any comments on the Braile battery? Any changes in behavior of the stock sound system? Any pulsating lights? Xenons still beam bright? Any drawbacks you can honestly mention?

Once again, no way. I like how quiet and nice looking it is stock.

I would gut a race car, just not a daily driver.
