Thankgod, the rattle is gone. I tightened the spare and moved the jack and tightly secured it down and to my surprise the rattle way gone! i never used the jack or the spare so i never expected that would be it. I drove around all day enjoying the rattle free ride and it was great. Little things like rattles annoy me alot and drive me crazy. Feels like i got a new car thanks all for the help and advice

I stipped the whole rear of the car today, every piece of plastic, spare tire, jack foam piece as well as the driver side foam piece, also all the plastic on top of the hatch.

The sound is still there!!

Frustarting as hell. I put my sister in the back today and the sound seems to be coming from the passenger side where the shocks mounts. I think I'll leave it stripped and take it to the dealer like that.

I read another thread where the shock needed a washer or something but can't find it...

I also have this rattle from the rear passenger side. Driving me nuts too. Its more prevalent over bumps on back roads, etc. Also changes with temperature differences, I hear it more when the AC is on and the interior is cool. When the car has been sitting in the sun for a while and the interior is hot, I don't hear it as often. I am therefore assuming its some plastic piece that expands and contracts probably where there is a seam. My guess is the plastic pieces around the rear strut tower bar. When that strut bar flexes inside of there it must cause some kind of movement with the plastic pieces. The plastic pieces with the " Z " on top look real cool but I don't think its a very good design to cover a strut bar with plastic pieces. I am going to have to get someone pretty small to lay back there and find this noise for me or I am afraid my driving is going to become somewhat more aggressive with that frigging noise.

geddy lee, is your car also an 06'?

Like I said, I removed every piece of plastic from the rear of the car. It seems to be coming from where the rear strut mounts.

How do you get to the top of the rear shock mount? Is it only done from the outside of the car. I'm starting to think it's something with the shock, might be loose or something, rubber bushing maybe?

I removed all interior hatch pieces and padded the rivets with duct tape. I also padded with some duct tape near where the panels meet. The sound is deadened slightly, but not 100%. I'm going to add a couple thin layers of foam underneath next and see if that helps any. I think it may, but not sure... it could still be the 3rd brake light (which would have been moved slightly by uninstalling/reinstalling panels, or something on the strutbar i bumped during install?).

I plan to install 4-5 small felt circular pads to the top of the 3rd brake light. Should not be visible and may stop any vibration against the rear window.

Eventually I'll eliminate enough things that I can find the rattle.
