Because these cars are "lookers" so people will try to knock em out of the lime-light or convince everyone else "they aint shiet".

I've said this before, but it's like the pretty girl that shows up to a party. All the ***** and fat chicks are going to spread every rumor and play her down as much as they can to feel better about themselves. Take the attention off of her.

Unfortunately, these ricers and fanboys usually have the oppurtunity to do so, since there are sooo many Z's on the road now. Compile that with all the cocky Z driver's who think they have the best car on the road.

If the the Z was a REAL piece of shiet, no one would really pay us no mind. So in a twisted way, it is flattering.

 

Because people think the Z is faster than it is...for it's aggressive looks it's not that quick. It loses to a lot of cars you wouldn't think it would lose to...stock of course.

 

hate usually spawns from envy. if there is nothing to envy there is usually nothing to hate.

 

I don’t really think that the Z receives that much more hate than any other car. I’m a member of three different car sites for three different cars (Oh, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune!) and I’ve got to say that I haven’t seen any overt amount of hostility directed to the Z. Usually when I see the Z mentioned at all it’s as a kind of benchmark car. People with slower cars see taking down a Z as proof that they have arrived (performance-wise). At least once every few months I seem to run into a “Should I buy a 350Z or a…” thread, and it’s been my experience that the Z is generally given some pretty favorable coverage in those cases. I won’t say that the LS1tech folks didn’t view the Z as a downgrade power wise, but I’ve generally found universal respect for the looks and the performance of the Z. And really, if any car seems to come up more often than any other, I’d have to say that the SRT-4 Neon seems to attract more mixed attention than the Z could ever aspire to. I think I must see at least 2 threads day about the SRT-4. There’s always the same disdain for it ( [Snooty British accent] It’s still just a Neon… [/Snooty British accent] ) followed by the grudging admission that it really is pretty fast with a little bit of modding. And be glad that you don't own a Honda. I can count on one hand the number of times that I've seen someone say anything favorable about Hondas or those who drive them.

 

most the people that hate on the Z are the ones who dont have one (i.e. honda civic ricers that have more decals than they have HP) way I look at it yeah hate on my car, fact is I can go fast in it AND its a chick magnet

"hating" on cars is just plain ignorance, as is drawing unfair prejudices about certain cars' owners
I may not like a car but I can always give you a reason why I dont care for it, I would never say I hate a car, I dont like a lot of cars though

if someone wants to critisize thats fine, but it should be done in a constructive matter, more people will listen that way anyhow

It all started with the 240Z. The Z is a (Asian) import icon.. It was and is the measuring stick to which all other asian sports cars and some domestic cars within its class, are measured by. without the Z. There would be no STIs or EVOs,Eclipses, probably no Civics. The Z started it all. What a better car to hate on. Its like the "Corvette" of the import world. Thats why you can all ways sucker a STI or an Evo or a civic into a race, they want to know where their car is fast or not. If you beat a Z..its fast. Simple

And as others have said, every car gets bashed. In my case, the VR4 gets called a boat/fat pig/etc seems not many people know they run 12's BPU.
