Nissan Announces Updated VQ V-6s
Filed Under: Auto News, Tech, Nissan August 23rd, 2006 2:35 PM No Comments
Nissan’s celebrated VQ V-6 engine family is getting an update.
The automaker has announced new 3.5-liter and 2.5-liter engines dubbed the VQ35HR and VQ25HR, respectively. The mills are designed for front-engined, rear-wheel drive vehicles, and they promise to be rev-happy powerplants.
The ‘HR’ designation reportedly stands for ‘high revolution’ and ‘high response,’ which seems appropriate in light of their 7,500 rpm redlines.
The larger 3.5-liter will generate 306 horsepower for in the 2007 Infiniti G35, while meeting SULEV emission standards and increasing fuel economy by 10 percent. Credit falls to a new block, continuously variable intake valve timing, and electromagnetic exhaust valve timing, lighter internals, and reworked emissions and ignition software.
In North America, this flexible motor sees duty in everything from the aformentioned G35 to Nissan’s 350Z, Altima, and Xterra, among others.
The 2007 Nissan 350Z is scheduled to go on sale in January 2007. The changes for the new model year will include new exterior colors, a new gray colored convertible top (Roadster models), Active Head Restraints and performance enhancements including a new VQ35HR engine.
The 2007 350Z will again be available in Coupe and Roadster body styles and in an array of models – five for the Coupe, including a Grand Touring model, and three for the Roadster (including the Grand Touring automatic transmission version).
More information on the 2007 Nissan 350Z will be available at a later date.

if someone gonna trade there old 350z for a new '07 350z, won't it be a better idea to just get a FI kit. Seem like there quite a bit of people will to trade in to get a new Z, but the $$ that you will loose from trade-in/selling + finance....is lots more than turbo/sc kit...
I mean, why loose all those money just for a new Z? After all it still a Z.
