Default New Z Hype Question.

I don't know where else to put this question. Actually I think it's more of a complaint. Almost everyone (including myself - don't get me wrong) is hyped about the new Z that is scheduled to come out next year. Why is it that we have to wait until January 07 for it. The altimas and maximas have already came out. Sentra and Versa are well on their way, hell I even think that the Quest is out. Before any of these 07 model cars even came out, they had pictures of them. I think they also had specs of the cars as well. How come the pictures and specs for the 07 Z's are not out? I'm getting very restless. My question is, almost all of the next generation cars are being shown in the Nissan Shift_2.0 part of the Nissan Website. Where in the hell is the Z?

Its getting the VQ35HR. When the Rev-up models came out in 2005, they weren't available in fall of 04 either.

I have read that the new HR motor does not look like it will fit the existing Z so they have to do a little face lift.

mmm maybe it is a market ploy, no one would buy an 06 z if they knew that the 07 was going to have a better motor (like me for instance) so maybe they are keeping it hush hush to make it easier to rid the rest of the 06's then make it a sort of hocking announcement in 07

I can't wait to see the new design either, but not really excited about the new HR engine.

How much more HP or performance is the HR engine?

The current issue of Car and Driver says there are no changes slated for the 2007 Z or the G35 coupe. The G35 sedan is the only one to receive the new motor for 2007.

Read that too -- if thats the case I will be breathing a big sigh relief for buying my 06 in July

The new motor is nice but I am "stuck" with a REVup lol seems to make about 15-20hp more than the current REVup --- 103trap for the Sedan

Yea I saw that too. Car and Driver usually knows what is going on. I guess we will have to wait and see if the 2007 Z has the new engine or not. A 7,500 rpm redline would be awesome.

You do realize that it isn't a new (as in redesigned) Z, don't you? All it's getting is a new engine and certain other components (intake etc.). As for why it won't arrive until January, who knows? Manufacturers only delay a release when they have no other choice. After all, the longer a car is on the market, the better chance its maker has of selling as many units as possible.

True. I just want to know if it would have been worth waiting or not. Right now, after reading this post I say it would not have been worth waiting.

If I remeber correctly the most recent issue of Motor Trend also had no change for the 2007 350Z as well. I guess we will have to wait and see.

From what I have read, the engine is 80% new. And as far as cosmentic, there is no reason why there should be cosmetic changes, except the fact that the 80% new motor does not "LOOK" like it will fit....

but then again, they would never do a facelift (2006) and change it again within a year. The tooling for the refrash 06 bumper im sure costs a huge chunk of change.
