Your point is well taken but let me nip this in the bud. I'm glad he closed it. I did not take it as heavy handed, he was just trying to change the focus/mood. And my title selection did not go off as intended, my fault.

I was also trying to turn the focus (still am) of the original thread into recommendations for Nissan customer relations improvement and thought "impotent" was an appropriate/humorous title since I doubt it would be listened to by Nissan (come on, they must have already thought of it). However I fear it was taken as an insult as it was a twist on the word important and I believe he is feeling a lot of frustration right now, differences of importance always seem to do that. That was not my intention, apologies. The original message was VERY important.

I got my suggestion in so all is well. If others have suggestions, post em, doesn't have to be to my original thread. Perhaps a better subject title such as, um "Suggestions for Nissan".

Enforcer

P.S. Hang in there JmanZ, it'll all work out, your guidance is greatly appreciated.

Apparently, Jay has made a decision to close all threads critical of Nissan. How nice.

J,

Sorry, my comments were not intended to be sarcastic. I should have expressed my disagreement in a more diplomatic manner. Thanks for clarifying your position. Being a former admin for several forums, I respect your decision, even if I do not agree with it. Perhaps my frustration was misdirected at you and for that I apologize. I'm actually very happy with all the information in this forum and I believe it to be the best of the 350Z forums. May I suggest you move threads to the off topic section if they become redundant? I'm happy Nissan has acknowledged our complaints and is working to improve communication. I believe that's all we really wanted in the first place.

I had posted earlier in the week about threads that were beating a dead horse, but on the other hand, I don't know that it should be the job of a moderator to tell people what they can and cannot discuss. How about another section entitled REDUNDENT THREADS (or my personal fav. -- BEATING A DEAD HORSE THREADS). Once the mods feel that a topic has been beat to death, they can move the thread to redundent threads, that way the main (general) room does not get bogged down with redundent threads, while those who feel it is necessary to beat a dead horse can knock themselves out. Just my $.02. And that would eliminate the smell of censorship here which I don't think is what the Internet -- and this room -- is about.

Take it from some people that have been there and done that. Overmoderation kills a board. People will get tired and eventually give up. Just let the spasms run their course.

Raceboy, iMR2, you know who I'm talking about (KenDud)...

Its a thin line between a dead board and zcar.com.

I think Jay's walking it just fine.

the tide can turn at anytime. i'm still new and observing, but it appears that people are just putting up with issues of moderation here because it seems to be where the large number of 350Z info seekers come to. Those that want to be in the loop will naturally want to hang around where the majority of people are even if they have to grit their teeth sometimes. the board is easy to navigate compared to others, which also helps in attracting people too.
that said, no board is perfect and is constantly evolving.

Well I've been watching this board since before it existed and Jay had his other site, and I've been posting for a few months now, and I can say that for the most part the people posting the valuable material will stay if the environment is good. Many of us used to post at zcar, but left because we got disgusted with all the bickering and inmature behavior.

Look at what guys like Scafremon does: he camps out at NNA just to make sure this site has the first photos of the cars "in the wild." And if you look at the posts back then, there was almost NO acerbic bickering, just a great exchange of useful information.

I myself made sure I brought a digital video camera to an event that MIGHT have 350Zs so I could post video with engine revving sounds HERE. I then spent hours editing, encoding, and distributing the video. I sure wouldn't do that for a ZCAR.com, and if this board was filled with useless whining I wouldn't have done it here either.

I thought those were one in the same now.
Sorry, couldn't help myself.

There is zcarchat.com where you can learn all kind of things from people that were formerly banned from zcar.com but now are allowed to post at Spencer and Dereks other site.
A wealth of knowledge, not! But an entertaining read.

I personally prefer vBulletin to the software run on other sites that is poor to navigation and hard to read (like beige on black). I hang around here, but I have a subconcious /ignore for those threads that bug me. So I don't find the drivel annoying at all, just a product of the masses looking for information on something new with no other sources available.

Early in the year, when the Z was just taking shape before pricing was announced, this board was quiet, friendly and just as speculative. In fact, I think we still had a post a day asking about the horsepower.

It's just a slight storm until every sees the car in person for themselves. And then it will simmer down and we'll have to worry about all the "I smoked a Ferrari," "I smoked a Corvette," and "I smoked a Yugo!" posts...

1) My thoughts exactly.
2) Again exactly. This car will be faster than all the C4 'Vettes other than ZR1, competitive with C5, faster than about 1/3 the Ferrari's produced over the last 20 years (most notably the Mondial & the whole 308/328/Quatrovalve, etc. series.

But you can also add many Porsche 911s, etc. to that list.
