Sorry. I dont buy a car based on its resale value. I plan on keeping it long enough that this is not a factor in my purchasing criteria.

Some people desire cars like this. Not everyone wants a car that attracts attention everywhere they go.

Well if any situation to where you had to get rid of the car it would be nice. Things do happen, ya never know.

Yes I figured that'd be your reply. But you have to admit it's be a kick in the pants if/when you ever sell your Pontiac that you paid $50K for 8 years later for 1/10th the price.
American cars seem to have one heck of an amortization rate

Cool car nonetheless

To be honest, pontiac missed the ball with the gto. Sure the interior is nice, the motor is great, but exterior styling, c'mon. With all of the retro styling going on why design the car to look like a Honda Civic on steroids

yeah thats nice but what happens if he keeps the car for 3 yrs, get into an accedent and totals the car, then he's screwed because the insurance will pay him "retail value" so i would rather have a Z. As well as him not wanting attention, thats nice, but that doesnt change the fact that he said the GTO looks better than the Z. I understand it's his opinion and all but, there is a difference in saying " i dont want something flashy so i'm getting the GTO" and "the GTO looks better than the Z". i believe he stated the second one.

my brother as the 05 400hp GTO...i think Pontiac did a great job designing the interior, and it's really comfortable, alot more than the Z...but as was posted earlier, gas is a ***** (my brother is always complaining) , and the more and more I look at his car, the less and less I like the looks of it...i say go with the Z, more fun, more fuel efficient, better looking.

the GTO interior is NICE the seat are sooo comfortable....but the Z is HANDS DOWN NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND NOT EVEN OPEN FOR DEABTE BETTER LOOKING. I still love the GTO's look though dont get me wrong. If you want drag performace power get the GTO...if you wants handeling and looks go for Z............screw it get the GTO to many Z's

I seriously considered a GTO. I actually really prefered the styling of it to the Z. No not because it looks better but because I dont really like getting too much attention because of my car. It's also got a back seat and 400 HP is hard to turn down.

I guess in the end however, going around tuns is still pretty high on my list of priorities, hence the Z.

+1 drive both cars,

BUT! when you drive down the street NO ONE is going to say "WOW look at that! It's a GTO".

does cars are too bland and there is nothing special about them plus they are domestic VS the Jap Z.

Interesting fact of the day: Japan is in the top 3 most expensive cities to live in.

Honestly, My Best Friend Has An 06' Gto 6.0, The Thing Is A Beast, Torqe Monster, And As Well As A Gas Guzzler. But Im Not Gonna Lie To You It Is Freakin Fast, But My Z Is Right There On His ***, My Z Is An 06' By The Way, Both Our Cars Top Out At The Same Speed, 160mph, His V8 Power Band Just Gets Him There Faster. The Freeway Is Where All Your Money Would Be For The Gto. Now For The Z, The Overall Is Just Better, The Driving Pleasurement, The Top End! The Looks, Of Course Girls Attention (lots Too) And You Throw On A Few Bolt Ons And Your Done, If You Are Brave Twin Turbo Kit And All I Gotta Say Is Forget A Gto!!!!!!!!!

You've got to drive both cars and decide which one is more fun for you.

Other than that, I would vote for a 350Z because I owned a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT, (bought it new off the lot), and I had to sell it because within the first 4 years and 40,000 I had just about everything on the car go bad. It was constantly in the shop having work done, some of the things that went wrong:

Drivers seat had a spring break inside and poke out the rear of the seat
Alternator went bad
Turn signal controller went bad
Exhaust came loose
Radio ***** broke
Door panel came loose
Rear view mirror fell off the winshield (and I live in Ohio, not a sunny state)
Interior lights burnt out
Fuel injectors needed replaced every 8,000 miles AND I used fuel injector cleaner and mid-grade gas
Power steering pump went bad
Headlights burnt out
Tail lights burnt out

wow, i have a friend who has a 2004 grand am gt and i think one of her radio ***** fell off as well, i just couldnt justify paying that much on a pontiac, great idea, it just didnt work. I foregot 06 is the last year, that should say something about the car, but i hate bashing on the GTO, cause i really do love the car, i just love my Z more..

The only thing that i dont like about the GTO is the handling and i could fix that with a few suspention mods. Thanks anyways for trying to convince me, it didnt really work. I was already leaning heavily towards the GTO. Thanks again
Sure bud, sure

We tried to convince you? You asked for a Z boards opinion what did you expect

I drove both --- the Z is a Z ---- the GTO is a muscle car....I wanted a sports car -- end of story
