yea sucks when cops pace you, but that was dumb passing him, when you do that they think "wow he has absolutly no regard for the speedlimit at all" he might not care if he sees someone in the opposite direction going even 10 over, but you pass him at more than 5 and hes going to get you

cops try and pace me all the time, i always have my eye out, i love the "undercover" crown vics, when you start coming up behind them they will slowly speed up, you see that hit the brakes

Just my .02 cents, but don't you think most cops are baiting you to see if you'll pass them? I've had cops do that deliberately just to see if I'll speed up to go around them or choose to remain right next to them or slightly behind them. They'll either drive the speed limit or slightly slower and tag the first idiot who tries to speed up to get around them...

I pass black and whites all the time on the highway if they are going way too slow. I just make sure I am not whizzing past anyone.

I do consider it lame to slow down to 66 in a 65 just because an enforcer is doing just that. No one can write a ticket for 5 above the limit and make it stick. The meager fine just isn't worth the court's time.

ive gotten about 7ish tickets in my driving career, i noted that on a couple the first box was 5-10 mph 10-20.. or w/e but it started at 5, i thought that was pretty funny

ill pass cops on the highway or anywhere for that matter if its multiple lane deal, but i will slow down first and let a bunch of other people pass, and see what he does, then pass him and slowly accelerate the farther i get away...

Just be glad you don't live in Texas i got a ticket when i was younger for 57 in a 55. I took it to court, hired a lawyer and after almost 300 dollars it was off my record. The judge/cops in the small towns around Dallas sometimes just like to **** us off i think... Another time i stopped at a stop sign about 3feet farther out so i could see around tall grass and got a ticket for failing to stop on the line. That one was $215 to keep it off my record.

But the big thing is was that cop running traffic that day? If he was then all of his tickets are more than likely for the same court day. If he wasn't then chances are he'll be working or has the day off and wont show up. Good luck man!

It was a state cop (highway patrol). Just out of curiousity, does anyone know how much / if any additional cost there is if you fight it and lose? I know some states have you pay for the court costs if you dont win, but I'm not sure about Pennsylvania. I guess I could ask when I go to hand in the ticket.

I agree. When someone does something that seems odd to me, I also try to put myself in their shoes and ask now why are they doing that? Did they have a fight with their spouse this morning? Makes me a lot more tolerant of odd behavior. I just give the other person the benefit of the doubt.

If I was a cop and my job was to enforce the speed limit and someone on purpose passed me exceeding the speed limit I would be thinking --> here I am busting my a** trying to keep people from speeding and now someone is passing me _speeding_ in my face. I just get no respect.

Sup Camaro! Long time no see...but man..that sucks. I'd be pissed too. Was it an unmarked cop? He said he followed you right...just thought maybe you would have noticed if it was not a unmarked car.

UPDATE:
Had my trial last week. Cop showed up
I told my story. The judge reduced it from 72 in a 65, down to 70 in a 65. No points, just had to pay the fine

Who resurrected this one back from the dead? Congrats bro, that's definitely better than having points on the record.
