My beater is my ding magnet... I call it the green piece. its a 93 mazda mx3 and just about every time I park it some where it comes back with a new scratch or ding or dent, It still makes me mad because people have no respect for other peoples property. when I bought the Mazda it had some scratches but no dents... now it looks like I drove it on a golf range I went to home depot last summer to get some mulch in it was inside for 10 min, came out and it had a big dent and green light green paint on the back bumper from one of those big push cart/sled things... I saw a sign saying the lot was monitored by camera and went inside I was told the only way they could do anything was if it was an employee who did it, and it was on tape. and the cameras were crap.... oh well thats why I have a beater

and lets be honest... if you were driving a crappy mini van, wouldn't you take the opportunity to park close to the nicest car in the lot? Just so you can think "hey, this guys gonna be pissed... mini van: 1, nice car: 0" Lets face it, you're driving a crappy mini van, things probably didn't turn out how you planned, you have a right to be mad at people who have nice things.

okay fine thats true....but that mostly has to do with parking thats around other ppl already, close to where ever the building is.....were talking about parking at the end of the freaking lot....and even if you wanted a show then.....theres parking spaces everywhere left to right cuz its the ENNNNNNNNNNNNND of the parking lot

Maybe the person who parked next to your Z was actually a Z enthusiast and wanted to check out your ride..who knows?? Or a person who loves
his minivan and doesn't like to get dings from other POS cars so he decides
to park next to you..

+1 bro. Happened to me at the grocery store. I parked W-A-Y at the end in no-man's land and even double-parked so no one would park next to me. Sure enough, whan I came out, a mini-van was parked _right_ next to me. They also double-parked, but within 2 feet of me. They could have parked in any of 10 places out there, but no... Didn't even park in the next full space

WTF? I don't get it...

Some twenty years ago I was bored and it was starting to snow. I walked down to the small theater nearby to watch a movie. I think it was Gandi. Because of the weather I was the only one there when the movie started.

About two minutes into it some lady with big hair comes in and sits right in front of me. I couldn't believe it.

Must be a human nature thing.

Wouldn't you know it, as I am sitting here late into the morning surfing the net and watching ESPN re-runs, I see a car pull up to visit the laundry mat and guess where they parked?!?!?!
Double parking, ie taking up 2 spots, is asking for trouble, IMHO.

Happens to me all the time as well.

I can park far across the parking lot with 50 free spots around me and there's always one car parked a few inches besides me when I return.

I check for door dings + scratches all the time.
I hate close parkers

i work at a mall.. and no matter where i park, someone always manages to get as close as they can. i know that not having your front license plate is illegal, but i was contemplating taking it off a few times for show..

yet numerous times some as.s hole has pulled up too far in the parking space ahead of me, hit my front end, and then when they back up to leave they tear the plate out..

needless to say im keeping my front plate on til i find a different job. lol

id never take two spots, as thats asking for trouble,
but i park in the furthest space possible.
the time difference in walking is usually very small and its good for my health

as far as other drivers go.... i have also noticed that some will go out of their way to park next to you, even if youre in the furthest space in a huge empty lot. i think it's because some people think that you know something they dont while others just like parking next to a nice car.

This happens all of the time in Atlanta. No matter where I go or how far away I park there is still some jerkoff in a POS that feels the need to park right next to me.

In addition to this, last Friday I was at my club night where I promote in Midtown and had my car parked across the street from the venue so I could keep an eye on it, granted it was infront of another bar type/frat boy/berkinstock wearing/Abercrombie and fitch dive but I would have at leasst thought the bouncers there would have enough respect not to SIT ON MY CAR!!

Nope, I had to walk over there and some troll was just parking his big *** on the hood of my car. I walked over there and was like wtf, get off my car. He looked at me like I was crazy because he was probably twice my size but it didnt really matter, I couldnt belive some ****head felt like it was ok to sit on my car.

Aghh, the nerves of some people!!

I also park far away and next week I'm taking my Z in for four door dings. This is an annual ritual for me.

I remember a thread on these forums over year ago, when the guy parked his Z in a completely deserted lot, came back a bit later and found an SUV parked right next to his car! The rest of the lot was still as empty as Jessica Simpson's brain.

99% of the time I park my car as far away from other cars as possible. I've only had someone go out of their way to park next to me 2 or 3 times (it's normally some SUV or complete junker). It does annoy the hell out of me, but I just check for damage right quick and move on. When I think about it...if they went out of their way to park next to my Z and dinged, dented, or scratched my car would they have left their car next to mine? They probably would've moved and parked someone else so they wouldn't be held accountable or come out to find their car undriveable with pieces all over the place.
