One time me and my girl were sitting in the car in a parking lot arguing and this freaking thrashed minivan parks next to us. The lady gets out, walks around to her passenger door, opens it to get in while letting her door hit my car.

I was already heated because I was fighting with my girl and when that happened, well, lets just say that I "over-reacted" a little on that poor lady:

Thats why when you park far you take the opportunity to double park. At least stick your rear end into the other parking spot.

This happens to me as well, I have no idea what people are thinking.

I park at the top of a parking garage where there are enough spaces for everyone to skip a spot and still have left overs. Anyway, people always park in the same spot, mine was about 10 spots from the door, midway or so. Then one day this jerk in a late 90s accord started parking right next to me in the 9th spot. Yes, he drives up five flights (while the third and fourth are only half full) and parks right next to me and does this three days in a row.

I get there early so I have my choice of spots so I start parking in the 12th spot, I come out and he is in 11, two days later, I am in 14th and he is in 13th. Finlay, I get all the way out to 16 and he starts parking in 14, keep in mind, all the other folks that are all over the place now because we upset the balance. Its been 8 months and I still park in 16 and he still parks in 14.

Every time I walk by it on my way out of the office I want to spit on it.... but I don't.

Chris

People are funny...they have to sit one seat over from you at the movie theater....same thing about parking. I thrive on my personal space, so I have ZERO desire to be that close to ANY MF unless they're my GF!

A common situation... the Z is a natural born magnet and people will get as close as they can manage to take a look

Feel good about it and move on!

Now, flip that, if you see a really nice G, or BMW, or any nice car in the lot, don't you park next to it, so you can have a mini car show? Yes, I know you do. It's just human nature to want to be near greatness (the ultimate driving machine).

and lets be honest... if you were driving a crappy mini van, wouldn't you take the opportunity to park close to the nicest car in the lot? Just so you can think "hey, this guys gonna be pissed... mini van: 1, nice car: 0" Lets face it, you're driving a crappy mini van, things probably didn't turn out how you planned, you have a right to be mad at people who have nice things.

He he he, this might be true in some cases indeed... I always park as far apart from any car that I can, but that is to avoid my car from getting 'door dents' and other 'crowd damage'

Four years ago while waiting for my 03 pre-order I was hurt on the job and needed a total knee replacement and was able to get a handicap permit for my car. No problem with parking my Z...so in a way my injury turned out to be a blessing... and I still worry (shopping carts and keys). My Z will be 4 years old Oct. and not a scratch...yet! Now that I posted this some di.k will get me..LOL

You what I would do when I see a nice car and I was in my Honda? I'd park next to it to protect it from door dings and just to admire it for a sec before I walk away. I am very **** when it comes to crawling out of my car w/o hitting the car next to me, whether it is a beater or a ferrari.

But I doubt most people think like me.

Boma,

I REALLY think the problem lies with the people who simply look at cars as a means to "Get from Point A to Point B".

They are more likely to buy bland color (Brown, Tan, Green) cars / minivans and are TOTALLY disconnected and disassociated mentally with the driving experience.

Whilst driving, they aren't REALLY thinking that much about the car or the highway and other cars.

They are mentally in another dimension thinking about:

Johnny's Bad Report Card and what to do about it (Should I call Slyvan Learning Center??)

What should I get for dinner to go with the Lasagna (Hmm, maybe a Fresh Garden Salad from Super Fresh or Shop N' Stop?)

Oh damn...It's 1:30 and I have to get my nails done and pick up the 12 Pack of Toilet Tissue on sale at Walmart and get home before the kids do!

I wonder if I flushed that condom down the toilet..."Oh shyt"...God Forbid the kids see that..."Oh PLEASE, don't get Larry use the powder room downstairs when he gets home...IF he finds out about me and the new neighbor, our marriage is phucked!"

All of the above, PLUS MANY MORE countless mindless thoughts in these car zombie's brains are what truly scare me while driving.

I don't park next to them to be near greatness, I park next to them in hopes that a nicer car will REDUCE the chances of poor door openning edicate/behavior--read, door dings and scratch-side reversing.

ROFL no kidding! I parked at bestbuy then a damn ASTRO parked next to me and I could hardly get in the car. I dont know how the lady opened the door. I'll try taking 2 parking lanes but I wonder if I can get a ticket.

So you really don't mind people possibly dinging up the panels on your Z? Ferrari or not, the Z is still a car people often look at in awe, why have small dings all over the place? The way I see it, the shape of the Z really puts emphasis on blemishes.
