parking far doesnt work
Freakin I will park in near empty lots with tons of empty spots around me and crapmobiles will park close right next to me! Why didn't they park in the other 1000 spots open?!!?!?!
Two things:
1) People think. Park next to nice car. Better chance their car won't be stolen. If I see a more expensive cars, I'll usually park my Z next to it too.
2) People park next to nice cars so they can get a better / close look at it w/o looking all wierd.

You can get a close look at a "nice" car by parking in the area or ATLEAST leave a space between both cars. When someone parks a nice car or any car way in the back of a parking lot all by itself it's obvious they don't want it other cars around it...so why be a d1ck and park right next to it anyway?
If I owned something like a Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, etc...I'd park in the back of lots and put a car cover on. They can get a close look at some WeatherSheild fabric.

Didn't I already posted 2 reasons? Short summary, 1) MAIN REASON: By parking next to a nicer car, people people assume there's less chance their car will be broken or stolen into. 2) Get closer look at the car. If "nice" car is park all the way at end of the parking lot, wouldn't it look wierd / suspicious if a guy parks close to the entrance, decides to walk all the way to end of parking lot, looks around the "nice" car, and than, walks back toward the store? So, they park next or close to you.
If you don't want people parking next to, drive a sh*tty car. I can almost guarantee you nobody will park next to you at the end of the parking lot.

I understand what you're saying but about 90% of the time the type of car that parks next to a car sitting alone when there's 200 other open spots is a minivan, some SUV, or a junker. Why would they be so worried about someone breaking into it that they feel they need to park next to a more expensive car for "safety"?
Luckily at work we always have a lot of nice cars parked together as everyone knows we are careful with getting in/out of the car. However, when parking in a garage near a mall it's always difficult to find other expensive cars with (hopefully) cautious drivers....
