Thumbs up first time driving impressions

The Z was really nice, outside & felt comfortable inside. The model I drove was a '05 Track Edition, I was pretty disappointed you couldn't turn off the traction control, the acceleration was smooth and torquey but didn't seem very aggressive.

1) Anyone else feel this way about the powerband/acceleration/gearing?

2) How can I turn off the traction control on an 05 Track Model or (ex) an 06 Enthusiast

3) Edmunds.com lets you look up new cars only, what's current invoice for an 05 Track?

- Thanks.

depends on what you're comparing the acceleration to...if u're comparing it to a turbo'ed engine it won't feel the same as it's n/a and the power delivery is smooth rather than peaky like a turbo.

butt dyno's aren't always correct. just cuz a car builds speed gradually doesn't make it slow...for example m3 vs. Evo...m3 can walk the Evo stock for stock but the Evo will "feel" faster due to it's turbo surge at ~3500rpm.

I am currently daily driving an S2000 and have a fairly quick FWD N/A car so the butt dyno and comparisons were coming from a honda driver.

How do Z's respond to bolt-on's? What kind of real life expectations can you have from i/h/e? (testpipes included)

I feel ya! The acceleration is really smooth...it seems like the Z has a very linear power band, which is pretty nice. The only gripe about the Z I drove was that it didn't seem that quick...I mean, acceleration was pretty quick, but it didn't feel like I had 300 hp on my toes...I gunned it to redline, and I felt like I was going 30, but I was going close to 60...is this normal? Just felt like the car wasn't very quick, but when I look at the speedo, it is!!

The Z is well known for being slow. It's that linear powerband that goes down at a 45 degree angle. It's such a turd. Also, all of that body roll and instability is quite unnerving at high speeds(that is, when you finally get there). The steering is very loose and all over the place. The brakes feel like mush and the more you use them the worse it gets. The Z is totally unbalanced.

Buy a more deserving sports car.

There is a button to the lower left of the steering wheel that turns of the TCS. The 05 Track also had another stability control system called VDC.

The reason you feel like your going 30mph in the Z when your really doing 60mph is because it is built to handle speed.

Sports cars that are built well don't shake or rattle at high speeds giving you the impression that your going slow because everything is under control.

Get used to it, or you'll learn the hard way with a speeding ticket.

Power is what it is. Some cars are faster. Some cars are slower.

Yes. There is a TCS ON/OFF button.

3) Edmunds.com lets you look up new cars only, what's current invoice for an 05 Track?

Check Kelly Blue Book.

I have driven over 100mph several times and my Z feels like it's going 60mph. Yeah, it feels slow but don't let it deceive you. The Z is a high performance car and it was engineered to make sure its handling capabilities are such (and BTW, roast is just being sarcastic).

i initially thought the same when i first test drove the z. then i took another ride/drive in a buddies z. it took a couple of drives to get the feel for the acceleration. i like it, it's a smooth and quick acceleration.

The best popcharger is no popcharger. Remove the stock airbox and filter and we're good to go.
