No confrontation intended, just wierd to hear this outcome.
Dead serious, from a roll we where about even, maybe had a 1/2 car on him, but from a dead stop, the Z jumps a good car and half and stays in front.. we even ran from a roll till 140 and the Z stays in front... My Z does run better than the average, I have beat several stock Z's by alittle but bottom line the 335 is not that impressive... We are actually going to get the 335 dynoed this week.. I have already dynoed my Z and it did 253 bone stock.. My other buddy has a 06 like mine and only dynoed 246 so I guess I got lucky...... And like I said for an extra 15k its not that great.. My cousin has an M3 and now that beats me everytime from any type of run...

I raced my cousins 04' E46 M3 6spd and lost by 1/2 car from 20mph-120mph. The M3 is definitely faster than the 335 but the 335 is faster in 3rd gear.

I feel the 335 looses alot of power through the gears, but 3rd gear does pull pretty sweet

Yeah, I have an IS250 and its definately nice. Obviously it doesn't have the engine or brakes the is350 has, but you get a pretty good idea. Couple of things I don't particularily enjoy about the IS which am pretty sure the bimmer will fix. First, the accelerator is not very responsive. It is a mercedes benz like throttle where you have to depress quite a bit before getting somewhere. Second, the steering is a little on the soft side for my taste. After getting out of the Z, you feel like its a Cadillac. At higher speeds it tightens up, though. For some reason it doesn't inspire much confidence like the Z after the 100mph mark. The brakes on my Z are much better, but then again I installed a track model Brembo setup that works wonders coupled with braided lines and ferodo ds2500 pads so the comparison is not really fair.

The Z deff feels tighter and handles more like a sports car but the IS is more comfortable... I have not felt the accel lag on the IS350, it actually impressed me and the paddle shift is dead on... Alot better the old IS300 I had.

Yes, the paddle shifters are definately enjoyable as well as the six speed tranny. And it is somewhat more comfy. The seats are very heavily cushioned but are not really supportive, which bothers me in spirited driving with the paddles. I like the seat coolers. The caribbean gets very hot and the cooler helps quite a bit. Good to hear the lag is absent is the is350 to compete with the bimmer.

They deff are sweet... The IS lets the 335 have it but they are in the same price range so thats not so impressive as a 30k Z doing it

Go with the 335!! The service and respect that they'll treat you with at BMW is enough to make the change alone. I still own and love my Z but due to bad experiences with Nissan Dealerships as well as NNA i can tell you that i'll NEVER buy a Nissan again, even if the new Skyline blows the competition away. There's exceptions to every rule, but in general, Nissan's service is at most mediocre, and there's quite a few issues with their craftsmanship. Sorry if i may sound bitter but that's just my experience. I bought a Scion tc as a second beater car about 10 months ago, and i can tell you that toyota has treated me a lot better, even though i purchased a car with them that was about 20k less than the Z. My advice between the Z and the 335 is based on just company service and professionalism alone. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your new ride.

ur not the only one that fugly car should not be compared with the 350Z... end of story. and ya you can getta brand new Z, put a twin turbo in that and ur guaranteed well over 300 bhp.

Test drove a 335I a couple of weeks ago. Nice power but, overall, I still prefer my Z. Actually, I would like to stuff the 335I TT engine into my Z, then the Z would be near perfect. I read somewhere that the 355I engine puts out close to 360+ HP at the crank.
At first I liked the body of the 335I but now I'm not sure that I like the porportions. Too long in the flanks. I still prefer the looks of the E46 series M3's. My wife had an 1996 5 series Bimmer. Nice riding car but the mechanical problems were overwhelming. Maybe the new ones are better?

+1

No more Nissan for me. I love my Z - but the service and quality is just average. You would expect more from a $30k car.
As far as Toyota - in my opinion their products are superior in quality and design. I used to gave 2001 Celica GTS - and this car never rattled, never squeaked and never broke. I only changed oil and filled gas.

I think the Z would be a really nice car - if build by Toyota

Honestly I think that this kind of thing is luck of the draw with any car manufacturer. My whole family owns BMWs, Dad has a 745, Mom has an X5 and I sold my 330i for a Z (I had a 92 325i prior to this). We have never had problems with the cars, ours have always run well. You also can't beat the 4 years NO SERVICE COST, this covers everything that could need to be fixed/repaired or just serviced.
