Question RUMOR ALERT!!! greddy 350z ran the 1/4mile last night...

and no one here knows about it!??!?!?!

i heard from 2 diff sources (AFAIK) that the car was running at a so cal track last night. neither of these guys were there, but they both had corroborating ETs, but slightly different trapspeeds (maybe from different runs..)

i dont want to start rumors.. (well ok this may be a rumor itself).. but posting times/speeds would be crazy without some proof.

can anyone confirm this rumor, or even kill it?

So was it in the high 12's? Just guessing based on 350RWHP.

Nice if its true. I'd pay $5-6000 for a kit that knocks a second off my 1/4

Hope the rumors (or facts) as they may be are an indication that Greddy is getting close to finalizing their specs.

Hmm.... I wonder at what boost that was run. I bet it was the 350 rwhp-ish rumor we have been hearing, not the 417 rwhp rumor. I bet that if they ran a 12.9 with a high trap like 118 or a 119 that if you added some slicks you would drop a few tenths. Either way I am really excited about this kit.

$6k at minimum for a 12.9 1/4 and 11x time? I am a lil let down. If they are on this board, aim for 400hp please. PE has and will.

I am waiting to see power enterprises stage II kit. There are three stages. Stage I is 400hp at .5 bar of boost and stage II is 500-600hp depending on boost.

I know this from interviewing the President of Power Ent at TAS 2003. Stage III details will be in our DVD release with the full sub titled interview and more specs of each stage.

it's just a rumor. greddy hasn't even made the turbo kit yet. they're having trouble packaging it w/ the available underhood space. the show car at sema was just a mock-up. this is the reason why you haven't heard any official power or price numbers for the kit yet. this is the reason why there are no pics of the turbos and manifold just the ancillaries. it's because it doesn't exist yet.

Point taken... I was just hoping Greddy watches this board and reads what the pres of PE wants to bring out. Some healthy competition. but honestly, i am sure Greddy knows more about PE than my interview. HKS is also coming out with some magic, as well as many smaller shops with custom fabrications.

... And I think Turbo apps will come out a lot later as planned because of the pool of potential buyers is so small! If you think about it, PE, Greddy, HKS. 3 vendors all fighting for 1% of the 12k 350Z on the road who will actually fork over $10K+ to do a turbo right?

Thats 120 kits x $10k = $1.2 Mil.

divided by at least three turbo companies that leaves them very small profits after R&D and marketing.

I think it might be as late as late winter/early 2004. I might look to ship my car to a reputubale custom turbo fabricator instead.

What the F, maybe there should be a forum topic labeled: race talk?

Remember that Greddy warranties their kits. For the price, you'll probably be able to get a more potent kit elsewhere, but without any warranty.

regardless, I'm sure whatever Greddy puts out will be a base kit which either they or independent owners will tune up even more. Someone out there is going to get these Turbo kits and turn up the boost higher than they should...

I am a newbie to adding performance modifications. The fact of adding a $6k turbocharger to beat my neighbors 911 turbo interests me.

A few questions, will it be smog legal? You cant register a car in california unless you smog it every 2 years. And what about engine and transmission life? If the engine only lasts 50k miles, that would suck. Can the Z transmission handle the horsepower?

Great post. I have heard from credible sources in Cali about this as well. But my personal opinion is that I can't see a car manufacturer training all its service techs how to install a bolt on twin turbo kit and add the liability of a warranty. As JmanZ posted several time, i think if nissan comes out with turbo, it will be in stock form and not compatible with our naturally aspirated Z. And it won't be before the next skyline.

Just my personal opinion, not those of my company.
