simple questions
I just heard about the feature that you can set a light to flash at a certain RPM. Will this light be in the tacometer, or in the trip computer? Also what will you be using it for? I guess it will be good for the break in period, but does anyone see a good reason after that?
Also I heard there was a stopwatch feature. or was it an elapsed time? if its a stopwatch how is that going to work? I mean can you time your 0-100 mph?
Did you hear C&D said the revlimiter was over eager or something like that? What do you think that is about?
Finally did you guys know that on the M3 it has a progressive rev limiter such that higher RPM's are locked out until the engine is warmed up. Also my friend has a M3 and he said that during the break in period his engine was locked out of the higher rev limit and after like 1000 miles he went to the dealer and they turned something on and the entire power band was available. This sounds like a good system and I don't know why other cars are not doing something similar. Seems to me if we can have a red light flash, how much harder is it to say tell the rev limiter to kick in at a certain driver set limit??
If this ever comed about is there any way I can get royalties like that intermintant wiper guy??

taco Good one. I am a horrible speller
As for the M3 the pre red line lights do change from orange to white as the engine heats up, but I think I read somewhere that the engine is not allowed to rev into this orange region just as if it were red.

Actually, I think it'll be in the burritometer. (Sorry, I couldn't resist)
I thought I remembered this feature being used in the 3-series a long time ago. I think BMW did something funky with the tach, where it was backlit differently while the engine was cold.

I believe there is a light by the tach, because otherwise it doesn't do you any good!
I know you set the speed in the Drive Computer because I saw that setting when I was flipping through the functions (wanted to make sure it had enough stuff so I didn't need the Nav).
