Nissan released a bunch of new vehicles since 2003 (350Z Altima, Maxima, especially Titan, Armada, Quest) which contributed a lot to the low scores I bet.

therse no way mercury, buick, ford, is ranked so high.. thats all you see in used car lots

and you tell me when is the last time you've seen a mercedes benz on the side of the road?

Honda for me is way over ranked casue they have recalls just like everybody else and with my last experice , ill never buy a honda again.. but this is my biased opioun.

what i do agree is lexus is no.1 , I dont know one person with a lexus that had any problems and if you ever been in one , the ride is so smooth , its insane

Obviously you never owned a Mercedes. Those cars are always having a problem and breaking down. The reason you may not see one is because the owners have them towed right away after they do break down. Kind of stupid leaving a 80K car on the road unattended overnight.

Yes true i have never owned one but i have a bunch of family members with mercedes benz cars and they praised them.. If they had massive problems with their cars, I would of heard somthing by now.

It sounds like you haved one and had the same bad experence that i had with my honda.

Think Nissan put more attention on building the 35th edition? I have put almost 7,000 miles to date in only 4months and I beat the crap out of my car

They may have used the word "recall" only once, but there have been several "issues".
1- tire feathering
2- man. transmission
3- fuel line
4- grease streaks on windows
5- driver side wind noise ( they have yet to come up with a solution to this problem.)

These problems might be small, but to some people, it's a PITA to have to keep going back to the dealership.

The reliability of the model has a lot to do with how and where the cars are put together. For Nissan, they have multiple plants in Japan as well as in US. I toured the plant in Tochigi last year where they make all the high end models including all Infiniti and the Z. It seems that they pay more attention to QA in the Tochigi plant than Oppama (where they made the 03/04 Zs and other lower models). The newer Nissan models made in the US (Armada, Quest) had very bad quality for the last two years, which would drag the scoring down for the Nissan brand.

When we read these surveys, I suggest you use Infiniti as the benchmark for the newer Zs (05 and up) since they roll off the same assembly line.

Agree. Not to defend Nissan, but the 350Z is a high performance sports car. I would not expect reliability to be on par with, say, a Toyota Camry.

In statistics this is called anecdotal information. There will be someone who drives vehicle A 250,000 miles, never changes the oil once, and the car runs fine. On the other hand there will be someone else who owns vehicle A and it is in the shop more often than on the road.

Both situations are note worthy, but of little value when considering purchasing the same manufacturer.

Don't know, but it cost a not-so-small fortune keeping my three Benzes on the road.

You must be joking. I've driven the SC. It's no sports car. Beautifully-finished, smooth-riding, but no sports car.

When I was looking for my Z, the sales manager was selling his 2003 SC. I drove it back-to-back with a Z roadster. No comparison. The SC was like driving a very smooth small sedan--a boulevard cruiser. No visceral thrill at all. Drove like a very smooth, powerful, leather-lined Celica convertible (which is what I owned at the time). The Z, in contrast, was a blast.

i'm one disappointed ex Lexus LS400 owner.
Mine broke down in rush hour traffic right on a major interstate highway. Computor module malfunctioned at 60k miles(replaced under warranty). The A/C never worked properly. Suspensions had to be replaced at 65K miles. The only thing nice about the Lexus was the beautiful sound system. Lexus makes fine automobiles, but they are over rated IMO.

My Hardbody has 440,000 miles on the original motor. I think that qualifies as reliable.

I LOVE how Infiniti is at the top of the list, and Nissan is at the bottom. Yeah, becuase they aren't made with EXACTLY the same parts.
