OK what's the top speed of the Z
#21
I would imagine that it wouldn't be "too" hard to get to 200mph in the Z. If you were to go the F/I route and then put in a lower back-end it could be possible. But if I wanted to go that fast and look good, I would get a Viper, 911, Z06, GT, etc...
All hypothetical. I have never F/Ied a car and have no idea how the Z would respond under these conditions. Although, in theory it would work

Hey if you did hit 150+ that fast, i'm really impressed. I just read a few posts of what people were saying..maybe for them 'sloooow' might mean 'fast' for someone like me..since i'm used to a much much slower vehicle.
But its good to hear the Z has great top end speed!

FACT:
they are electronically limited to 250kmh (155mph) Ignore what the speedo, electronic or analogue says, they are NOT accurate, especially at that speed.
NOT SO FACT:
I have heard from a number of sources that de-limited it will do 167mph (Manual gearbox, we don't have the auto here thankfully)

I've hit my 155 limit 4 times... and it isn't "slow" it still pulls to 155 in 6th gear, then just holds it there. Maybe the speedos are inacurate, who knows.. but it definitely cuts power to the point where you stop pulling and sit right at 155. I held it there for about 30 second the other day racing a C5 vette. He finally passed me, of course he wasn't stock either but I think even stock he coulda passed me because they can exceed 155. I think he said it was limited to around 162 before he chipped/flashed his C5.

I've done 156 according to the digital speedo but I really doubt its accuracy being as I did it with my windows open and sunroof open. Granted I do have a more aerodynamic body kit than stock but I wouldnt put much on it if I were a betting man.

I think the 350z has the power to go deep in the 160's unlimited...

For the untrained. If you change the tire size diameter or profile you change the rolling radius of the tire which changes the number of times +/- that it rotates in a mile. Therefore the speed reading of your odometer would change. The Z should cut out when it electronically so while there could be a problem with the electronics I might suspect BS on the claim. In regards to trying to calculate top speed based on "3000RPM is about 80MPH in 6th. so 6000RPM would be 160" is totally incorrect. It would be correct if this could be done in a vacuum negating wind resistance. The 350z while a very streamline car with a very low amount of drag, still has wind resistance. The faster you go the harder it is to go faster. Do this to check, run 30 mph in 6th gear and and then run 90, then compare the rpms. The ratio will not be the same.

I hit 155mph and mine is an auto. I was in 5th gear and it was at 5800rpm. I am sure it would have gone faster but I backed down and this was done with me and a passanger with lots of things in the back. I was surprised how well it pulled given the extra weight. Keep in mind my Z isn't stock.
