Cost, but they won't have any choice soon. The feds have announced that _VDC_ will soon be required on all new cars based on the European VDC experience... which has shown a marked reduction in mortality with VDC. The same cannot be said of anti-lock brakes.

Plus I don't get it on drifting; why? But I rode bikes for 30 some years where keeping the rubber connected to the pavement was a must.

I turn it off, the tranny shifts much better. The gate between 1st and 2nd is minimal.

I was very apprehensive during my 1st turn since I didn't know how my Z was going to handle the course in the rain. With the TCS and 4-wheel ABS (with stock rims & tires), my Z stayed on course the entire time. Never slid nor hydroplaned. I now have complete confidence that the Z was engineered to handle extreme conditions, to include being pushed hard on the track. It really made me appreciate my Z a lot more.
Although, Really, you should turn off TCS if you're doing a performance driving course.

My 2006 isn't nearly as intrusive as my 2005 was so, I leave it on now. Does anyone know if it was reprogrammed from 2005 to 2006?

I turned it off after the rain stopped and the track dried out.
