Had to work so I couldn't keep up with this thread, got called in on an emergency. FYI you guys, I'm 21 I do maintenance at an oil refinery. This year I'm going to make between 60-70 before taxes, my vacation pay is going to be about 1000-1200 every 6 months(un taxed because it's taxed before it gets paid into), The car isn't going to kill me like you guys think. Starting after next week till end of November I'll be clearing 2k+ a week for 6 weeks because of the insane amount of OT I'll be working. After a year or two I'm going to try and refinance it. The reason I'm buying the car is to build up credit, I've just recently got a credit card too.

To the guy who told me to check used, I have and they want the same or MORE for a car of equal or 1 step up in trim. Oh and I can still afford to move out and pay for this car, it's a non issue for me. I choose to live here simply cause it saves money I don't mooch off them, I pay for my own food and I pay them "rent" that pays for my share of the electric bill and water bill and then some.

I could do both, but like I said I'm waiting for my friend to finish this year of college and move back to California.

OK, since finance isn't your problem, just go ahead and get the car!
But, what we are trying to point out is, why would you pay high interest rate
and end up paying more when your payments are finally done. If you can
build your cash so fast like you mentioned, just save up some little and put some down on down payment. If you are worrying about you might not able to get Z at $26000, don't worry, you will be able to get the Z the price you wanted and lower your monthly payment. However, if you want the Z like there is no tomorrw, get the Z now!!

One comment, are you financing via Nissan or via a bank?? Bank rates should be at a more attractive rate.

Nissan, bank was gona give me 8%. Yeah I could wait, but I've been driving my beater for nearly a year now and I'm bored of it I want something new and something I like and something I can build credit on. Yeah the interest rate is high and I'm putting 0 down, but it's not a big deal. I see where you guys are coming from though, it's just I'd like to have it NOW. Anyways I'm going to try and get it tomorrow or Tuesday.

if you're making that much, then you should have no problem saving for a couple of months and putting a good down payment

think further down the road, not just for the moment

You might as well wait for the '07. Save up a down payment. Aside from having crazy payments and an insane amount of money paid to the lender for a higher rate, you will most likely have buyers remorse for not waiting to at least se what the new VQ35HR engine does. According to the presentation nissan put on, it's supposed to be a full second faster 0-60. And if it's all bs, you could still find an '06 for a killer deal. Trust me, I've been in a position to buy for about 3 months and I've dealt with the second guessing the whole time... launching head first into a financial descision is always a bad idea. I learned that when I bought my first house. Live and learn...

I'm just curious if you guys think it's a good price. I almost signed the papers last night, but I wanted to sleep on it. I'm 21, my first NEW car, I have no credit and I'm putting 0 down so I got like 8.99% I believe, The cost isn't that big of a deal though, I make good money 2 weeks of work I pay for the car + insurance + gas for the entire month. Anyways, should I get it?

deal down to invoice! $25,800

I've been shopping Z's for a few months and decided to wait for the 07 since it's getting more hp. Anyways, I'm looking at MT Enthusiast Coupes and keep getting offers from dealers in my inbox all the time. 2 are worth mentioning...

06 MT CS Enthusiast Coupe for 27,205 +tax and license

06 MT Interlagos Enthusiast Coupe for 27,005 +tax and license

Then, about a week ago, I got a follow up email from dude with the Silver Z and it said there was a new rebate from Nissan, blah blah blah... since his offers already had some incentives factored in, I sent back... so how much cheaper than your last offer would that Silver Z be now?

He said 26,005 +tax and license...

It sounded like a hell of a deal, but I'm set on Black and the new engine with the dual intakes... even if it is a few thousand more.

Something to consider also... Base models don't have LSD... meaning if you punch it, it's going to lay down one strip of rubber instead of two. Aftermarket LSD's run approx 2g's... so it would be worth it to go factory instead of adding later. (Just something to consider)
26,005 for an enthusiast? no way really?

i noticed you lived in Torrance, if you can manage to get over to Duarte near Pasadena, you can hit up the Performance Nissan of Duarte and get there bottom line prices. i think baseline 06' Z goes for 27.5k? some where around there. so you could should try and hit them up.

You sound like you got everything in order man and just want us to tell you what you want to hear...which is......buy the damn thing!!!!

Arguments are good all around: saving money, moving out, down payment, blah blah blah, get the Z now. Holding off on buying a new Z is almost like holding off to buy a new computer with a little bit better technology and power.

If you can get a great deal jump on it now, build credit, save money, refinance, move out nuff said!!!
