Do I need a new bumper? *Pics*
Some guy hit my bumper while I was stopped and his front license plate bracket "stamped" an L into my bumper. Do you guys think I need a new bumper or can it be fixed? I am going to ask that they replace the whole back piece since it doesnt seem like a fix would look right. I have full coverage so they should cover the damage. Also I am wondering if I should take this to a body shop or to the dealer to fix. Any ideas? Anyone had this type of damage?

Body Filler
Can't have that.
Another insurance question...should I contact his insurance company or would you guys just submit the claim on your own insurance? The guy said he would pay for it if I got an estimate from a shop so I could also go that route.

same thing happened to me and the bodyshop had a hard time fixing it. When i got it back, it looked perfect but once u look at it a diff angle, u can actually see a small wave. Im not sure if they jus did a bad job fixing it or jus impossible to fix. I suggest u use this opportunity to buy an aftermarket rear bumper or something depending on how much u get from his/her insurance.

How much do you guys think it would cost to replace that whole back bumper piece?

I hope you got all his info (driver's license, insurance policy number, etc.). Forget doing it privately (he pays out of his own pocket). If the shop gives you a quote sometimes they come back when they are in the middle of fixing and say "we didn't know there was another problem as well, we need more money to fix this blah blah blah". Happened to me before. Luckily insurance covered the extra charges. I'd guarantee you this guy isn't going to fork out more money if this situation happened.
Not to be pessimistic but you should've called the police. I got hit about a month ago and it was the other guys fault. He admitted it when he hit me and gave me ALL of his info. I called his insurance company and reported it and everything seemed to be going fine. An adjuster from his insurance company called me and took a look at my car. He gave me an approved estimate of what it would cost to fix and gave me the blessing to go get it repaired. The next day, before I could take it to the body shop his insurance company gives me a call. Apparently the guy told them a completely different story when they contacted him and said it was my fault, but he "didn't want to file a claim". Yeah his insurance company told me to go pound sand since there were no witnesses but the two of us and no police report. My insurance company pretty much told me there was nothing they could do since I didn't get a report. It turned out to be an expensive lesson to always call the cops if someone hits you. They are much less likely to lie to a police officer right after it happened and before they can dream up a story, then talking to an insurance agent a week later.
I'm looking for it online and can't find the part so far. I am also trying to find an aftermarket bumper that I can possibly use instead. I can just quote this guy and see if he pays. If not, I can call his insurance company. Anyone got a link to some factory or aftermarket bumpers?
And, yes, I have all of his insurance info.
