We have a little more information now... The court date is set and we have 3 witnesses. There was a kid who had it on video who deleted it so we are also taking him to court tryin to scare him into testify on our side. As for the car it is looking ok there are still white spots here and there but nothing to significant. We are sending it to get touched up soon.

Two months and still waiting, that would kill me. I have to know how this turns out, GL to you guys you're handling it well. Hopefully the kid gets what he deserves and you get a nice paint job/$$$ out of it, it seems like for all this trouble you deserve alot more than to wait around for months on this jack@$$.

I got a cheap beater for going to any of those places.
Really sorry this happened to you. People today are not respectful of someone elses hard earned property. Leave it the hell alone if it's not yours!!

this is one reason out of a million reasons why i would never own a nice/expensive car. it's just not worth the hassle.

Later on he played the audio from his cell phone while recording it on the computer thru a microphone. He made a nice little cd out of it and gave it to the cops. The cops called the kid in and then basically made up something about how they know he did it and if he admitted it he wouldnt be in as much trouble and the kid confessed he then later payed my friends insurance company over 3,000 and me 1,000 it took a while but it was a nice feeling to get the check since the kid told me that he was never gunna pay a dime.

The amazing thing is that I still haven't heard a word from the boy's parents. You would think they would have at least given me a call to either apologize for or deny the charges. I guess their lack of action explains a lot about the boy.
Anyway, I'll keep you guys posted and let you know what comes from the hearing on the 9th.

That would mean that the parent's are no better, or worse.
trash parent + trash parent = double trash kid...i wouldn't expect much out of them...you know, its really non of their business, right?
...congrats on getting the ball rolling at least...looks like you have a great case against this turd

That is why I asked about the parent's reaction, it amazes me they have not tried to talk to you. I think a small civil suit against them would wake them up. In some states kids who are under age that commit a crime run the risk of having the parents being held accountable for all damages to include going to jail. I think that is a excellent route to get parents to own up to thier child's behavior or lack thereof!
It could mean one other thing...
Hypothetically, its possible his parents have been through so much BS and trouble with him, they are willing to sit this one out and let him sink or swim on his own.
That would be one good way to get his attention. If any one person should be calling with an apology, its the punk kid.
For his own good, he needs to fry hard and feel every bit of it.

The point i'm trying to make here is that i think Embarassment goes a lot farther than whippings. Could you imagine if after all this there was an ad in the newspaper. "kid does THIS (with a pic of the car) to see the look on the car's owner... After his court hearing here is the look on HIS face! (with a pic of the boy after hearing his sentence)."
