DSM'er Looking into a 350z, questions about mileage.
Well to start off, I have a 1997 Eclipse GST currently at 11psi doing 262FWHP
Im running an EVOIII 16g, custom exhaust, and a SAFC-II. Well I love my DSM but its time to move on. Too many problems that have come up in a short amount of time so im deciding on my next car.
I have been going back and forth about either a brand new WRX or a used 350z, and i just cant put my finger on it.
Now this is where i need the help, about the 350z. I was obviously thinking about the 350z used and with no more than 30,000k miles on it. Now is that too much? is that fine? What should I expect? and what shouldnt I expect? I have a price range of about $27,000 and nothing more.
The car is beautiful and id love to be an owner of one but im just not sure because the WRX would be brand new. This isnt really about speed because if it was, id keep the DSM, I just want something decently quick :P and reliable and safe... my DSM isnt lol . Well please guys as much advice and help would be REALLY appreciated!

I don't think 30,000 miles is too much but you may be able to get an 06 Base for less than that although I'm not sure of the actual price of them. Should be relatively close though.
I bought my 03 two years ago with 28K. 72K on the motor now and I still runs strong

30k miles on a Z is good. I bought my 03' with around 30k miles on it. Runs perfect and pulls hard. And with a price range of 27k, I'm sure you could find an 04' or 05' out there too. The wrx is brand new, but if its not the STi, its soft, lol. Good luck on whatever you buy!

I'm a proud former DSM owner too! (Eclipse GST Spyder)
I sold mine earlier this year and it was hard for me to do but I knew that it was getting kind of old and it was time.
I still miss the turbo and hearing the psshhh and it's insane acceleration. I'll get another one later on in life but for now the 350Z is a sweet replacement!

Sold my 96 Talon awd for the Z. Good upgrade...reliable power with warranty. Anyone who has owned a DSM knows how reliable they can be....sigh...thats what helped me build up my tool collection, battery charger, and who knows what else.

I don't mean to hijack your thread but perhaps you could learn from this as well. My local Nissan dealership has a '03 silver 350Z, touring model, 38k miles, gray leather and they are asking $21000. I believe that is a very good price. What do you guys thinK?

My Eclipse has 135k miles on it but runs AWESOME. Its not even funny how fast this sleeper eclipse i have is. I could make a nice huge list of the cars i ate but im not like that... but ya lately ive been wasting too much just to maintain it. I think its time to move on into something sexier and newer... the the Z
Hopefully around December or so, I'll be apart of the family.

Yea man you can get an 05 with about 20K for about 25G's....Nissans are built like a rock. The engine was designed to last 300,000 miles. I have 45,000 miles that were driven hard...car feels just as smooth

I just picked up a 06 Base brand new for a little over 28K out the door.
I'd shell out the extra money and get a new 06. You can always customize it later.
A WRX is a nice car ...but the ladies do love the looks of Z by far.
Someone here said it best "you have a Civic that can kick the butt of a Ferrari, but at the end of the day, the ladies are going to want to go home in the Ferrari and not the Civic"....I'm paraphrasing it, but you get the jist of my thought.
