Well, when I got my Z the guys just wanted me to show them the universal language token (money!)
The salesman that looked after my deal was very knowledgeable and down-to-earth on his biz... no joking, just facts. And no questions asked.
I agree that the guy was just going by the book in order to help you out, no offense intended... sales is a tough biz and as in every other biz you want to put your effort where the most of the result is likely to show up.
