Default Buying a used 2006 enthusiast w/ 9k miles? Could it have been ragged on?

I'm considering a 2006 enthusiast w/ 9k miles from a nissan dealership. I'm just worried that the previous owner didnt go through proper break in period and ragged on it hard thus it might not be as reliable down the future.

Also why would there already be a 2006 used model on the lot? Could it be a repo? Or a stolen recovered vehicle?

So those of you who bought yours preowned hows your experience so far? Do you ever wonder where your car has been or how it was driven before u got it?

Here is the link to the car.

It is probably someone who ended up upside down on the payments, or someone who recently got deployed. Actually you might wanna if you have access to a base go to killeen and go where the PX would be and look at the used cars. Tons of really new cars for cheap because people deploy or just got back and are buying something new.

Make sure to get it checked for oil consumption if thats even possible before driving. Its still has most of the warranty so you should be fine. Car fax it as well

Good luck

sometimes the previous owner could not get financing after all and the dealer ended up taking it back or it was a factory buy back due to defects.

sorry, i'm normally not a d|ck but this question is just stupid. of course there's a possibility that it could've been ragged on, just like any other used car in the world. why would a used 2006 be on a lot? hold on let me grab my crystal ball and dive into the thousand possible reasons. do yourself a favor and order a carfax report on it and see if it comes up with anything. even if the carfax is clear that doesn't mean there wasn't a problem with it or it's been driven easy. if you're questioning it that much, buy new.

I bought an 06 with 7,000 miles. it was only a couple thousand less than new
but it is a nissan certified pre owned and the warranty coverage is great on
the certified cars.

Why buy a warranty. He's still got 25k left on the factory one. Most of the problems Z's end up having are things that become recalls and by the time you run out of the warranty hopefully you'll have a good enough relation with a dealer to work things out if an out of warranty issue come up.

If you do get one get the one from nissan. At least you know it will still be in existence 10 years from now

Use carfax or ask the dealer to see the title history. As for it being broken in, well you can't dwell on that too much. If it's a huge concern for you (and you can afford an 06 anyways) you should be buying new. You just need to make sure the dealer does a good check on it and that it is up to spec. You can check for yourself for signs the owner really cared such as: tires in good shape; paint in good condition; interior clean with no scratches/scuffs/stains etc; check how clean the engine bay is.
Some of that stuff may have been in bad shape and replaced by the dealer, just ask them what work they did since the bought the car. In the end though, once you start looking at financing, I think you'll see you may be able to shop around for a new car and only pay a few grand more than that car must be listing for.

Sorry, but what do you mean check for oil consumption? Would that be a sign that its been driven hard? I'm sure the dealer had it cleaned up while checking all the fluids.

Thanks for all the input guys. Keep them coming...they are very helpful.

A lot of people have had issues with the (06's aka mine) consuming oil

Like after 1k a quart or two is gone. Nothing to worry about because it is a known issue and will be fixed by nissan hopefully

yeah its possible its been driven hard as hell. I bought mine with 8,000 on it its an 05 and has a salvage title (hit on the door). Drives Like its brand new and i love it to death. You have to realize any used car will have that possibility just make sure you give it a good check and test drive it until your satisfied. And if you have a good warranty then youll be fine.

Well when you're buying it from a dealer you have the best possible chance of getting a good condition car ( besides buying it from someone you know).

I would get it. Price looks good.

chances are they will be back on the lot in no time. My co-worker bought a dodge truck which was specified as a factory buy back due to a shabby factory paint job.

If you are leery about the reliability of a used car then buy new.

Any used car could have been driven hard. Heck, any new car that was previously test driven could have been driven hard also.

"Buying a used 2006 enthusiast w/ 9k miles? Could it have been ragged on?"

No, no...of course not. Nobody ever buys a high perfromance sports car and actually drives it hard.

But you've still got 51K of warranty left.
