OMG.. 07 Z will come around man..
why get a 06 Z right now? when you are like not even 2 month away from
it? it's whole different story..new engine and everything.. unless you are
planning on selling your Z in couple of years. Get a 07 Z. That way you
won't have to bang yourself hard in brick wall.

Gosh I stated in a few posts before the '07 Z with a better motor and slightly modified hood should be for sale in December. Check out the 2007 Z thread.

Sorry but I have to do this.

P.S. I would stick to the 06', go F/I and never look back.

You will never have the fastest car on the road so I wouldn't worry too much about 300HP vs. 315HP. By the time you do want to perform some engine modifications the parts / kits for the 2005/2006 'rev-up' engine will have been out longer, and there is some chance that the price of those modifications will be lower than that of 2007 'High-rev' engine. Not to mention that as others have suggested you could probably get a much better deal on a leftover 2006 than a fresh-off-the-boat 2007.

You are just on your way to college so I image that, to some extent, having some extra cash laying around is more valuable than getting through a quarter mile a tenth of a second quicker. Then again you are buying a ~$28k car when you are 18 years old so maybe money isn't an object. So maybe it comes down to whether you want the car now, or later.

Just remember that the 07s will have that smart computer thing that keeps track of all the data.

I don't think that is worth getting an '07 for. Sure, I would like to say I have 315 or so HP stock, and a smart computer, and whatever other small upgrades are planned, but I am happy with my even 300 HP and features I have now. That's the biggest problem with technology, something is eventually going to come along and make what you have lesser, if not simply obsolete.

To the OP, as some others have already pointed out, if waiting for the extra ponies matters to you, then you know the answer to your own question. Otherwise, you will probabaly do better with an '06 at a discounted rate (and just pray you don't get an OC problem). Spend the difference in mods, and you will be faster than a bonestock '07, with more character to boot. As someone else already said, there is always someone faster, and you simply have to ask yourself when is enough enough? '08's have been rumored to possibly make 350 HP; heck a 2012 could make 450 HP at only slighter higher than today's dollar Z prices. If you wait forever, you won't get a Z.

Where did you hear this from? Sources?

According to the Nissan calender which goes up to about 2010....the REAL new redesigned Z is coming in 2009 - 2010...Probably 2010.

I drive a 350Z (2004) and am very happy with the car. There is nothing unique about the 2007 that makes me want to trade.

most of the aftermarket engine parts are not going to work with the 07. You'll have to wait a year or two for things to catch back up

Get an 07. New twin-intake symetrical-exhaust engine sounds cool to me. and I bet it'll sound even better in real life with twin pop chargers! I am forced to wait to get mine, so 07 it will be! gotta pay off the hooptie first.

it seems like it'll have some rough problems in the first year of having it.

I'd get an 07 just for the engine. I dont care about 15 hp but i do care about 500 extra rpm. Having an engine that's both torquey and extremely revvy sounds pretty nice. That being said, i dont like the way the new hood looks, but hey...can't have it all.
