Is it me or am i the only person that owns a Z that hasnt once put their head on the head rest... I think the person that was designing the seats had a REALLY big head to be able to reach all the way to the head rest...
i noticed that the other day. if i put my head back in my ZR, i'm either looking way down to see the road, or i'm staring at the sky. i don't recline the seat a whole lot either. i think anyone over about 5'9" doesn't really have that option of reclining much while driving.
The headrest isn't for you to rest your head on, it's to keep you from getting whiplash in an accident.
+1 on the whiplash reply.
In regards to my statement of wearing helmet, I was just pointing out that if you could comfortably rest your head on the headrest (and drive), you probaly wouldn't be able to wear a helmet on a track day w/o bouncing your head on the headrest

Honestly the headrest is so far back that in the event of an accident i think i would probably break my neck before my head reached the headrest. I dont think they were going for any sort of safety or comfort... its just made like that because it matches the design of the seat muchhh better. Just think about how weird the Z would look if it was like a plain old box seat.
Hmmm, my body must be different from most of yours. When I adjust my seat to a comfortable angle, my head almost touch the headrest. I can drive with my head resting on it, but it's not relaxing. The stiff suspension makes it a bit bumpy if I rest my head. It’s true, I found the headrest too close when driving with a helmet on.

+2 That's why they are technically called head RESTRAINTS, not head rests. As for them being too far back to do any good in the case of an accident, they are designed with the forces and motions the seats and passengers are subjected to in the event of an accident; it may not seem to be in the right place just sitting in the car, but it will do it's job in a crash. Most important thing (that most people neglect) is to make sure it is properly adjusted to do it's job in a wreck. Admittedly, I don't have mine adjusted correctly; I put it where it looks god and matches the passenger seat, but the height of it should be that the back of your head is squarely in the middle of it when you put your head back against it.
