Yeah, i was thinking about what if the weather got bad fast and the motor for the convertable suddenly decides to bite the dust. I never thought of a targa top... Yet cars with targa tops are designed around them. They have structual braces to keep a rigid frame even without a top. I dont know if i'd want to do somthing as drastic as putting in a targa.

Its pretty much between convertable or sunroof. However your suggestion is very much appreciated!

The verts look girly with the top up. Great with it down. Just get a coupe and stick your hand out the window..lol

If you've always wanted a convertible, get a convertible. The ZR is an excellent car.

I know 2 people who had a sunroof installed by the dealer when they purchased the car.
One is a black Z and it looks good and another is on a chrome silver Z.
Both complained about one thing, a lot of wind noise at higher speeds.

My personal vote is against adding the roof to a coupe. I've seen some with the roof added and if you don't know the lines of the car so well you may not notice, but once you learn the admire it like I think most of the people on this forum do you can't not see the awkward flat spot.

Another thing is this horror story I heard from the previous GSM at my dealership. A friend of his had the roof installed and forgot to close it one day. Because of the way the aftermarket sunroof slides over the roof instead of into it, this guy opened his hatch and it collided with the open sunroof. Glass went everywhere and he ended up paying more in damage than he did initially to have the thing isntalled. That alone swayed me from the idea of doing an aftermarket roof.

HOWEVER, if you do still end up going with the aftermarket roof most companies will put a lifetime guarantee on their work. So if something goes wring like the motor or the lining or something they should repair it for free, but that works just like a regular warranty, it has to be by fault of the product, not personal error like the guy who opened his hatch.

I hope that helps at least a little.

Wow, i never even thought of that. That really sucks for the guy, it sounds like somthing i'd end up doing. I guess just getting a vert is overall the best idea after talking with you guys and hearing opinions. I actually dont mind how verts look with the top up anyways so thats not a big deal for me. Hopefully by the time i get mine (i'm waiting on the 07's) the issues other people have had with their ZR's wont be a problem for me. Hopefully they will have fixed them and the cloth top will be more durable.

I just pray the 07 ZR's will have Daytona Blue in the lineup of colors...

Thanks again guys!

Default Webasto Sunroof

I too have had a Webasto sunroof. no leak issues, its actually works and looks great. with it extended out i think it compiments the aggressive roof line.

MAke sure of 1 thing though: have them install it, authorized installer or not with a relay..... i had one electrical issue due to the install all because they installed it with out a relay. Webasto web site actually has install instructions with the relay on their site...

Sorry for the night pics. thats all i have!
