Default 350z Sunroof?

If all things go correctly, i will be getting a Z soon. I have test driven both the coupe and the roadster and loved the roadster the most. For some reason i like to have an open air feeling, even if its just a sunroof and the coupe doesnt come with one so i have been leaning towards the roadster.

Yet when i went and test drove both and mentioned this to the guy he said he could have a sunroof installed!? He said they have a company that does custom work for the dealership and he can have a power sunroof put in the coupe. After hearing this im seriously considering going that route and having the best of both worlds. More room, some open air and less weight than a roadster.

This guy isnt just pulling my leg though is he? Does anyone else have a coupe with a sunroof or has anyone else heard of this?

I wouldnt mind seeing photos of a 350z coupe with a sunroof outa curiosity but i cant seem to find any.

You can cut a hole in the roof of any vehicle.

True but i hear alot of people *****ing about no sunroof so why dont they get a custom job. Does it void any part of the warranty or damage the structural integrity in anyway that it may cause a safety risk?

$$$ is the main reason, minimally affects integrity.

I asked him how much it would cost but he never really gave me an answer. He seemed a bit shady on the subject when i pursued it further, thats why i was wondering. Would it cost a whole lot?

I think a sunroof will kill the curvature of the roof.

I'd think it would drop hear room down a bit as well. I'm 5'10" and anymore than a inch lower and my head would be rubbing, at least for how I have the seat adjusted.

adding the sunroof creases stuff kinda funky your putting something flat on a roof that is curved its not super noticable on light colors but you'll hate it on black....... seen it hated it just IMO

I saw a Z that had the sunroof put in. It doesn't look bad but be careful of the headliner. After the install it was loose near the windows and looked like it would start to hang lower as time goes on.

I just wouldn't feel comfortable hacking up the roof of any car that didn't originally come with a sunroof though.

Good luck with your decision

In these pictures, the sunroofs seem small compared to the area of the roof. It could be for structural reasons. I considered doing a sunroof on the coupe but then drove the roadster and fell in love with it. If you want open air, there's nothing like having no roof over your head. Especially at night.

As much as I would love a sunroof on the Z, it just doesn't work on this car. Too small and ruins the lines of the roof. Maybe a removable panel, but I don't think the curvature of the roof will allow for that.

I know what you mean, i was set on a roadster but i started to think about performance, safety, room and how i will be restricted in what spoilers and such i can put on the ZR without it looking strange when the top's up or if it will even work period.

The last couple photos of ObZeZZed's z with the sunroof looked really good. The sunroof looks nicely done and doesnt seem to take away from the curve of the roof very much. The headliner issue was another worry i had previously thought about but just remembered when mentioned.

Thanks for all the info and help guys. Im still kinda torn between both. Ill most likely end up talking to ObZeZZed to see how he likes the sunroof and if he has alot of good things to say about it i might go that route.

Still, driving a ZR is exhilarating and having all that open air is amazing. (Never drove or rode in a convertable until i test drove that ZR). Iv also always wanted a convertable...

dont get a sunroof... they leak and sometimes they will not open or close. and they will not exactly be covered in the factory warranty. why dont you just get a targa top on ur 350z from altered atmosphere.
