Default Official 350Z v.s. Mustang GT Thread

I searched and couldn't find one, there will always be small variations, but here goes for performance(MT):

350Z:
Engine Size: 3.5L V6
HP: 300 @ 6,400 rpm
TQ: 260 @ 4,800 rpm
Fuel Type: Premium 91 Octane
Fuel Economy: 26 Highway, 20 City
MSRP: $27,650 - $39,800
0-60 Time: 5.4 sec
1/4 Mile Time: 13.9 sec @ 108 mph

Mustang GT:
Engine Size: 4.6L V8
HP: 300 @ 5,750
TQ: 320 @ 4,500
Fuel Type: Unleaded 87 Octane
Fuel Economy: 25 Highway, 17 City
MSRP: $24,215 - $31,145
0-60 Time: 5.2 sec
1/4 Mile Time: 13.9 sec @ 104 mph

There has always been a little rivalry between these two cars, and it seems most owners of each wish to mod their car just enough to beat the other one. I was amazed with the similarities in performance even though the mustang has got an exceptionally larger engine, just goes to show the beauty of the Z.

Does the Z really trap 108? I thought it was lower than that Maybe I'm crazy.

You have to assume that this is the fastest a Z has ever run, under perfect conditions, professional driver, yada yada yada... They also have the SRT-4 at 14.9, but have you ever seen a stock one run faster than 15.2? no.

The Z does not trap 108. Usually anywhere between 99-101 mph.

Does the mustang GT really run on 87 octane? Why would that be?

I wouldn't be surprised if Ford makes a less performance engine so you don't have to spend as much on gas, but I don't know for sure...

according to most magazines the Z only traps 101 and does low 14's. I have not yet seen a stock Z run in the 13's at texas motorplex.

Again, we will relate to SRT-4, look up Dodge reports for this car, says 14.9, never happens. Companies will always lie about it to make it look better, but these times were actually done one time, they run it 100's of times to get a perfect time.

Question

If the numbers showed the 350Z running 13.9 seconds, and the Mustang running 12.9 seconds, who would trade their 350Z for a Mustang?

Good comparison...didn't realize they ran about the same 1/4. My neighbor has a new SC mudstain. Finally got it tuned and ran a 12 flat on 20" chrome. I heard him coming down the street yesterday and it sounded like he did a bit more to the motor...maybe a cam or something. We have been planning a run to the drag strip, but everytime I add more to the Z (he was already ahead of me - had the SC before I had the nitrous), he adds more....It gets up, but just doesn't feel that fast. Still not bad for rockin 20s. Hope I can catch him on DRs.

Is this a joke?

108mph 1/4 mile stock?

Youve gotta be kidding me.

Where did you get this info from?

You've also got the MPH wrong on the Mustang GT

Sorry but you need to research this over again.

Thats why the Mustang GT has so much torque.

Mustang GT: 320 TQ

350Z: 260 TQ

I wish our cars had more torque than that.

Please do I have never seen a stock Z run 109 and on top of that a 109 trap should yield you a low 13 high 12. Maybe there is something wrong with your track but I still stand by my statement that I have yet seen a stock Z run in the 13 at Ennis and yes this is a approved NHRA dragstrip. Stillen supercharged Z aren't even running 109.
