you should be pushing the clutch in as fast as you can, but if you can stop half way through its travel AND shift without grinding AND riding the clutch then just do it.

the standard way of shifting:
clutch in as fast as you can
shift gears without rushing the trans
clutch out relatively quickly. the better the revs are matched the faster you can let the clutch out.

I'm leaning more towards an LS2 Saturn Sky

I doubt they put a LS2 in a Mary Kay car.

I've owned a 2002 Maxima, 2003 350Z, 2003 G35 coupe, 2004 Sentra, 2006 Altima. So yeah, I kinda like Nissan's. I just hate their manual tranny's.

Default Push the clutch all the way down!

If you don't depress the pedal all the way, your synchros and clutch wear a lot faster. You can't hear anything (at least until there's significant wear) because synchromesh prevents grinding unless you're way off on rev match and barely stepping on the clutch - but the wear occurs anyway.

I assume neither of you has ever driven a vehicle without synchromesh - if you had, you'd know this firsthand. I suspect this is one reason so many Z owners complain about transmission problems.

I looked at the Sky for about a second. No comparo! The breaker for me was the residual value of those things. The're not predicting they'll be worth anything down the line which says a whole lot. Here is the current Z ratings
SZ

2006 Nissan 350Z 2dr Coupe Touring / Compare Instant Lease Quotes / (10)

24 mo/12k mi – Residual Value 60% of MSRP – .00285 Base Money Factor Rate
36 mo/12k mi – Residual Value 51% of MSRP – .00285 Base Money Factor Rate
48 mo/12k mi – Residual Value 43% of MSRP – .00285 Base Money Factor Rate

Interesting, where do you find those numbers?

I would probably hang on to the Sky if I sunk in the money for the conversion.
