I live in Kansas and I am wondering something. If you get a random plate they only give you one, but if you get a personalized one they give two. Are you required to put both on if they give you two? Is it normal to get 2 plates when you get them personalized?

Thanks,

Kevin

The best ones to answer that question would be the state agency that issues the plates or ask a cop.

I think if you normally only get one plate that you probably only need to mount one in your state...it is a state by state thing though so check your local laws...

Hey Jeff..thanks for the thread info on the tow hook..will start working on the bracket this weekend

After some more thought, using the tow-hook provisions to mount the plate may not be a good idea.

It could adversely affect the benificial purpose of the front bumper. Depending on exactly where it was located, any direct front-end impact could hit your plate first, and send that impact to the frame, instead of the bumper.

Something to think about.

There may be no need to use the tow hook provision at all. If the lower mounts for the plate is sturdy one can be made to adapt with just that.

Okay, why did this thread stop here.. the 1st Z was delivered and everyone's plans changed..? I guess I'll keep searching, but I'm nearing delivery and it's time to tell the dealer not to drill any holes.

AudioPat, Did your friend come up with anyhthing? I'm sure any plate hilder would be designed soft enuf to not pass any trama to the frame. But I don't hink I'll bother with the front plate cause in VA it's hard to find any Vette owners that do. I'll take my chances.

I've been running no front plate on my 3000GT in WA state for 4 years now. Never even received a second glance from any cop, sheriff, or state patrol. Now if I were to get pulled over for some other reason I'm sure I'd get dinged.

I'll risk not running a front plate on the Z as well.

I simply zip tyed the original mounting bracket to the grill then attached the plate after putting a little weather stripping on the inside bottom of the plate so it wouldnt rub the paint.
Its very solid considering, and sits just a little lower than the above picture.

I did the same - zip ties rule! The bracket (& license plate frame got hit by something - bent the frame a little and cracked the bracket, but the ties held and you have to look close to see that it is cracked. I highly recommend it!

*PICS Please!*

Yes I know! This thread is ancient........BUT!!! This is the 2nd time these arseholes in Plano have cited me for no front plate. I need a way to "temporarily" mount the front plate on or do what you guys did. Then take my car up there let em' verify it, and then remove it! I'm not about to ruin the smooth/clean lines of the Z's front bumper with plates!
Of course this only happens after being cited for speeding!
And just so you Dallas/Plano guys know, LASER is getting prevelant here....
