Default Z Insurance in florida?

My parents will be moving to Florida very soon, so they're holding off on buying me a car until they do. Living in New York, the insurance is prohibitively expensive, but I hear it's a lot cheaper in Florida. I'm currently 17, will be 18 when I get the car. Does anyone in Florida have any estimates on how much insurance would be on the Z, or any info on how much they're currently paying?

This is for everyone who's gonna flame, in big fat bold so you notice. If you're gonna flame me about how undeserving, spoiled, wasteful, etc. don't bother, and don't waste my time.

Default Depends : where in Florida?

Florida is big and cost varies a lot between comunities. Miami is probably oof the most expensive places.

Insurance looks at your age (bad news on that), years driving in FLORIDA (discount after 3 years), and all the other same aspects.

I am 42, divorced, been driving for a LOOONG time, in Florida 8+ years, and I paid $2500/yr for the Z. I am shopping for a better rate. I do have a couple of points that drop off in May, so maybe I can do better after that.

I live in Central Florida. Insurance on the Z is about $1200 per year for me. I am 48 with a good driving record. You just have to get a quote because prices vary a lot. South Florida is higher on comprehensive insurance because of more crime in that area.

Thanks for the info guys. Would either of you have kids, by any chance, who drive? Maybe if they were around my age I could at least get a look at insurance rates on other cars for guys my age.

Edit: By the way, nice choices with the colors guys. I really like the redline and the daytona blue. Glad to see not everyone gets silver. I'm actually hoping to find a brick =)

I'm in Texas but,

I got an estimate from my agent last week for $1032/yr. But I'm 42 and have a long long good driving record with a vette, mustang gt, and miata. If/when I get the 350z, I will be replacing the miata and vette.

Wow, you guys are getting ripped. I live in pembroke pines and pay 700 for six months with full coverage. I have multi-car discount as well as those that the car has built in to it. I use Geico.

Dude, I had Geico, but what happened : my (now ex-) wife had a minor fender bender and they wanted to more than double the rate, so I had to drop them off.

For the original poster, my son is 20, 2.8 years licence (not quite 3), he drives a 2001 Ford Focus we bought new, he pays $2,400 a year... Should go down now with multi-car discount and 3+ years driving. I'll find out in May.
