Default Insurance rates (Southern California)

This is a general question but will insurance be significantly more for a Track model vs. the other models?

The rates should be the same. The cars are nearly identical in every way that matters to an insurance company.

my guess is probably not. I think that all models will be in the same class, and they all share the same engine. All the different Z models are basically different trim levels of the same car. But I could be wrong. I would never put it past insurance companies to find any excuse to charge more

hey intrepid have you gotten a quote from your insurance company for the z yet?

frankly i'm pretty scared to see how much my rate would be, cause i'm under 25 and had 1 ticket 2 years ago.

I'm also under 25 and have one ticket. The best quote I've found is around 2K per year. That's for fairly decent coverage, though. Check out Mercury insurance.

BTW, I've had several friends including my sister who experienced rather frustating problems with Mercury in resolving claims. All of them went to Mercury for cheaper rates, but after their first claim with them they jumped ship and went back to their original insurance provider.

Wink

Farmers quoted me $1088.60 per year. That is for 250/500/100 with a $1000 deductable, what I have with them now. I guess there is some advantage to being 55.

of course itll be different. One of the major decisive factors for insurance is the MSRP. You know like, how much will the ins company have to pay after you total one?
