Damn. The '04 is kind of on the balance there also. Nice to see Nissan got it together for '06.

I don't know how Consumer Report really works, but isn't that data gathered by consumers' reports/complaints

So wouldn't the earliest models have the most consumer reports/complaints while the latest ones have the fewest consumer reports/complaints?

Again, I don't know how the data is gathered, but judging by the title of the company...

I am a little suspicious about the 2006 numbers since the car has been on the road for about 11 months. It will be interesting to see what happens when 2006 owners have accumulated a reasonable number of miles: say 30,000.

Cool for the '06...but I agree with davidv. Let's see how it goes after a few more years and miles.

The data is gathered from 350Z owners like myself. Each year I complete a survey asking if I have had repairs in the areas listed above. The data is weighted so the vehicles with 5,000 miles (say the 2006) do not have an advantage over vehicles with 50,000 miles (say the 2003).

Don't read too much into this. The 2005, 2004, and 2003 cars have a lot more miles on average than the 2006's so it stands to reason that the 2006's are showing excellent reliability at this point.

And looking at the data above, the poor 2003 and 2004 transmission is a myth.

I have an 03 and Love it. Any car I own never stays stock. Issues with tires and alignment were solved with aftermarket stuff.
