Default Where are the high hp 350z's ??????

I just got back from hastings, which has every import tuner magazine you can pretty much buy and in these magazines they had 1200hp supras, a freakin 900hp evo, a 600hp honda s2000, a bunch of 240sx's running over 500hp, but not one single 350z with over 438hp. one of the z's had 399hp. who the hell cares about a bone stock 350z with turbo kit. that was the most hp they could come up with. even still the only 350z's with any real hp don't have vq35's in them, one of them has a damn ls1 in it the other has an sr20 in it. there have to be some 800hp or 900hp 350z's floating around out there some where. Is it just me???? I think that the vq35 has a ton of potential but for some reason no one with the know how seems to be able to get their car into a magazine. hell, try google and type in 1000hp z or any combination above 500 and almost nothing comes up. I have talked to shops that all claim to have built daily driver 800hp 350z's but none of these shops have pictures of them. someone help me out here. lets see some Z's with some real power. i am starting to wander if the vq35 can even handle the power. i figure if it could then there would be lots of them in the magazines. where are they?

it takes time for the aftermarket to catch up... LS1's have been around since 97', B series honda's 15yrs??, 2JZ 15yrs??

The VQ has only been used in a performance car for 4yrs

And there are some high HP VQ motors out there, maybe not in the mags but they are running around

i just wander why it is taking so long to develope aftermarket products. the new mustang already has turbo and supercharger kits and i have seen several of those running over 600hp. the new vette that just came out, i have already seen several videos of that car running over 1000hp. the june 2004 issue of super street had a 350z from top secret that had 690ps, which i am not sure what that is exactly in hp but somewhere in the neighborhood of 700hp but it didn't have a vq35, it had a vq30 in it. i have had my Z since 2002 and i have finaly gotten a job that allows me to play with my car a little more and i can't find a single example what what the 350z is capable of as a streetable car.

and i don't have any pictures of my car but as soon as i get some i will post them

Well with the new mustang Ford new that people like to mod mustangs and they provided large aftermarket companies cars to develope products before release.

The C6 corvette is still using the LSx series of engines some the parts were already around.

playing with your car a little won't get you your high horsepower z so why the big concern?

yeah, i have visited the site a few times but now that i have the money to start fixing my car up i tried to find some examples of really fast 350z's and i just couldn't and it has been really frustrating and i thought that if i posted something about it then maybe people could tell me where to look. plus this is pretty much the first forum i have ever run a thread on so the fact that you have never heard of me, i'm sorry i am just not a forum person but i know that there are plenty of people here who know what they are talking about so i thought i would come to the source for my question.

the whole point of me asking where are the high hp 350z's is because there are a million kids driving civic's around who can't aford to put decent exhaust on them but the Z is not a civic it is in my opinion one of the better cars on the road but just because not everyone can afford to make it into a 900hp beast does not mean that someone can't make one and put it into a magazine or atleast show what is capable. i am just tired of seeing a full engine build up on b16 or a k20 for a civic and then an article on how to install a cold air induction on a g35 or 350z.

what is VRT....?????

There are many cars here with high horespower numbers. Your in the wrong forum. Go visit the forced induction forum.

Lots of TT Z's with 600+ rwhp! I am going to be breaking the 500 whp here in a few weeks. Right now I have a single turbo making 456whp. 600whp is easy these days.

Vinny Ten's VQ35TT Z is making 1600whp @ 33psi running 6.6 second quarter.

VRT is Violent Racing Technology!!!

there are also plenty of streetable evo VIII's and VIIII's running around with almost 600hp and many with more than that but that car still only has a 4 cylinder in it. shouldn't a 3.5L V6 be able to put out those kinds of numbers and much more without much trouble????? and i understand that those cars have extensive tuning but they still only have 4 cylinders to work with.

well loudzboy, try not to compare the z to a evo or any 4 cylinder. 2 different amounts of cylinders right? evo's are turbo'd from stock so it would only seem proper that they would have lots of bolt on's which would increase their hp easily. also try to remember that a good majority of the z's out their are not bought by horsepower seeking freaks.

the z is more than capable of taking some boost and churning out some good numbers. in reality though, how many people do you think need to have an 11 second car? hell, if you can run 12's on the track, your pretty much faster than 90% of the cars on the road. i think also that working on a civic, or evo, or 240sx is MUCH easier than working on the vq. that might not be the full story but the few things i mentioned are what a good majority of people i feel would think..........

I forgot to say welcome.

The big horsepower 350Zs are in the forced-induction forum. You seem like a nice guy so let me give you the straight skinny. I don't care about what you saw at Hastings, or what you read about in magazines, or the 500 horsepower Evolutions that you see on the street. Its kind of interesting from a WOW perspective, but thats about it. So what does a 1,600 horsepower 350Z in a magizine mean to me? Jack. Money equals horsepower. You can go as fast as you can afford to go.

So lets bring this conversation down to planet earth. If you have the bucks for forced-induction, the read and study the forced-induction forum. If you have the money for 400, 500 or 600 horsepower, then do it.
