Interesting how the 'correct' way is only how 1/7th of us say it... We're all failures.

I'm assuming you didn't mean to sound offensive, so this is just FYI. "Japs" is very offensive to a person of Japanese ancestry.

Hello,

Hmm... what Japanese speaker can pronounce the two consonant sounds one after the other, Nuki? Wouldn't you expect a typical Japanese consonant-vowel combination, making it ni-su-mo, ni (we are the knights who say "Ni!") su (like a lawyer "sue"s someone) moh (short "o" like an abrupt "no")?

I voted nizz-mow but I think my pronunciation is usually right between niss-mow and nizz-mow. Hmm, maybe that's nisz-mow?

LOL I get what you mean. However, most japanese do not speak with that sort of "drawl" for lack of better words. Short of drunken nights out at the karaoke bars, every conversation I had (in Nihonjin) while living there was very pointed and direct. Each word abrupt and almost aggressive.
The only time I heard that type of speak, is when they attempted to converse in english to me. Which usually resulted in the atypical engrish.com hilarity.

Right... like pronouncing the name of a company in English. I was thinking a Japanese person, pronouncing an English name of a Japanese company...

The last trip I took to Japan, I found it very hard to notice when someone switched from Japanese to English and asked me a question. Usually, my girlfriend would poke me and say 'he asked you a question.' I'd have this "well, duh, I don't speak Japanese" look on my face and then I'd feel silly because I'd realize 'crap, that was in "english"'. Hahaha.

Perhaps the right pronunciation should be ni$mo, with the dollar-sign-s.

Joel, using nismo cams and body kit parts, per the rules.

Americans are the worst speakers in the world when it comes to anything that isn't english.

Do you pronounce Nissan Nih San? So why would you pronounce Nismo that way?

Neesmo

Hahah... I doubt that! Listen to all the English words that have worked their way into the Japanese language. There are so many words that are unrecognizable to a native English speaker because they're so butchered by their Japanesification (gairaigo).
