Default Ahh, Drove the Z after having it parked.

Well, I live in Ohio and had my Z parked early to try to save some mileage and all that over winter.

Well it has been about a month and I decided I had to drive it before it got actually bad out........and man it felt great.

It felt like I just bought it all over again. I have been driving a 93 Civic for the winter and going back to the Z felt like driving a Ferarri. A couple a months ago I was having Evo envy....all the diminished real fast. I drove my car to Blockbuster and couldn't stop looking back at it when I parked. Then when I came back out and looked at it I couldn't stop smiling. Really felt like the 1st day I got it.

Well I had to share that with you guys. What a great car.

It really is the best part of putting your car away for winter isn't it lol.

This is why I chose to move to Texas verses Ohio!

1] The car is not cheap.

2] A lot of 350Z drivers, didn't grow up driving front engine/rear wheel drive cars.

3] Snow + Kids = http://www.pbase.com/arkovich/image/50357986

My car is just my weekend whip. I drive a Jeep GCL during the week. Every friday/saturday when i remove the cover and get in and take a spin, its like the first time!! Back when my car was my daily driver after about 6 months i got really used to it...not bored, but really used to it. Now having it as my weekend ride brings back that new feeling.

Exactly what I was thinking. After owning the Z for a year, I decided I didn't want to trash a nice sports car (high mileage wise) and bought a new Nissan Frontier to use as my everday driver. Now the Z is only used on "the drives I like to make", as opposed to "the drives I have to make".

I never understood the whole "parking the car for the winter" thing. Ive had RWD front engine cars since Ive been driving, and if it snows... I just dont drive when theres snow on the ground. Just cause its cold out doesnt mean the cars not fun to drive! lol

From reading around here, the only thing Id be concerned about is the paint thats supposively crappy on your cars and with all that sand/salt on the road, thats asking for little paint chips.

I park my car for the winter also. Reasons being:
Keep the mileage down. Crappy road conditions, rain, salt, snow, sand which all make a mess of your car. Idiots that can't drive in poor weather conditions. If they want to crash into my winter car that's fine. And yes when you do put the Z back on the road in the spring it's like buying a new car all over again. The crappy thing is someone stole my winter car out of my driveway last week.

I do not put my Z away for the winter, however I do not drive it often from Dec-Mar. If there's no snow and the roads are clear I will take it out. If not, I'm sporting the 95 Corolla. I'm doing about 8k miles a year on the Z. Probably only 1k of those from Dec-Mar.
The cold grip of the stock potenzas is really bad. I find myself spinning 3rd gear at times when Temp below 40 so it's a little more dangerous to drive the Z in those conditions.

I know what you mean. I drive my mom's '06 Murano from time to time when its my turn to be DD. Makes me appreciate the Z more when i get back in the next day. Don't even get me started about driving the old '90 Dodge Caravan on bad days.

why try to save mileage on a Z? a nissan is probably one of the worst investments anyway. Just drive the crap outta of it its only Z. If it was a ferrari or a super exotic car i would understand but damn its only a nissan....Rain or snow my Z goes out.

Now if you have a TT set up I would understand a bit...

eh, even if it was a FI i think it would be a shame to keep it parked to long periods of time. the reason i love Z's so much is because they make great daily drivers. Even well done ST and TT setups are reliable for daily use. If i was just looking for a weekend cruiser or a garage queen I'd have something a little more pristigeous, less practical, and less reliable then a Z.

I hear ya...I'm right on the lake, in the snow belt. There's no way I would drive my Z in the winter up here. I don't really "store" it per say...just keep it in the garage until I see a nice day. Usually December through Feb. is when it's real bad. Luckily, I didn't buy my Z until I paid off my Jeep...which took 8 friggin years!
