is your WRX paid for? If not, then trading in your car would be a bad financial decision.
The Z is more of a touring car an it seems like you need to go FI in order to make big power out of the VQ.

Not sure I would trade in a new 06' car for another one... I would drive your WRX for a few more years and then check out the all new 2009 350z when it comes out...
Unless you like wasting money, in that case, welcome

Yes, I can see your point.

Have you driven the Z yet?
I made the same switch, from an '06 WRX wagon to an '06 350z. Besides the oil consumption problems it was a fun switch.
After the coolness factor of the Z wore off I'm not sure I'd do the same trade again. If you can upgrade the suspension on your WRX the main reason to get the Z would be the looks. Other than the suspension and looks I didn't really think the Z was any better than the WRX.
Have you thought about an STi? What kind of car do you really want?
The WRX with turbo back exhaust and Accessport seemed as fast or faster than the Z. I think the difference is the torque and the fact that it's at lower rpms. The Z you really have to rev.
The stock suspension in the Z is much better, very little body roll and sticks to corners better. But if you spent a couple thousand on the WRX you could have similar handling.
It's all up to you though, you're the one paying for the car. I would strongly suggest driving one for an extended period of time and evaluate what kind of car you really want.

Since you live in California, the emission police will come for you. It's nice to mod a car for insane power, but it will catch up to you in the pockets. Buy a car that you can live with stock.
If you live outside of California, buy whatever floats your boat.

Man...i would go for it. I didnt buy my car for looks. I'm probably one of the few Z owners that really could care less about looks, but in all honesty, the Z is an amazingly balanced car. It's faster than the WRX in every way, it's less complex (and thus in my oppinion more reliable in the long term.)
I used to own a turbo'd awd celica and i've driven a WRX that was regularly used on the track with over 300WHP and handling to match. As awsome and capable as these cars are, they're simply not sports cars. You sit low in the Z, the cockpit wraps around you and your passenger, no one else. I also like the way RWD cars handle. No, it wasn't any grippier than that WRX, but the way it feels around turns is very different.
As for forced induction, i dunno the Z is faster than your WRX and on par with the STi horsepower wise, the difference is that the Z has exceptional throttle response. When you're adjusting the gas coming out of a turn the Z is just so much more precise than any turbo car i've ever driven.

your more likely to get pulled over in a WRX then a Z in Socal... specialy if u live out in the Bay Area but i think u should switch ur 06 wrx for a 05 wrx sti cuz the 06 is butt ugly!
i just trade my 04 WRX for my Z....
all in all... the WRX was WAYYYYY more practical... and coulda gone alot faster for alot cheaper and more reliable too.
HOWEVER, the Z is alot more fun to drive and has a more mature look to it. i would tell you to trade the WRX in but only if you got the 2.5rs or the 2.0 turbo... if you have the 2.5 turbo STi i would say DONT DO IT... keep the STi, but i beleive you have the 2.0 wrx...
dont listen to haters on here talkin trash about Subaru's... they think the Z is gods gift to man and would rather drive their Z than a ferrari.
test drive a Z first and let that make up your mind. what really made up my mind was that it was RWD and i was tired of having AWD...
