dealer damaged my Z
If you saw my previous post you know that the service tech closed the drive up door on my car doing $2300 damage to the top and breaking the rear window. Well the insurance companies are going to duke it out as the dealer company refused to pay. Uh...your door hit me!
Here is the question...my 03 touring redline has only 22K on it and was just about flawless. Now it has a Carfax report. Doesn't this devalue the car? How can I figure out how much? Anybody know how to get the info...
Probably going to small claims anyway so I might as well get it all. Thanks for all the previous support.

Sorry to hear. Happened to me once. I always avoid the dealer at all costs.
Will devalue a little. It is hard to tell. If you keep the Z for a while, probably not much. Just drive the car and enjoy it. Don't worry to much.
Goodluck man.

A diminishment of value claim can be made, but may not be considered unless the state acknowledges it as compensable. In other words, who cares...your car was fixed, and put back into pre-accident condition. And in some states they only apply a percentage (not much) to a diminishment of value claim based on the repair estimate. And again I say...who cares, your Z is fixed and if you chose a good body shop and there was no frame damage (and from the cost to repair doesn't seem to be) then you were made whole.
And a CarFax report will not show up on the average collision claim.
Drive your Z and let it go.

There was no collision..the service door just came down on the car. The claim is a comp claim according to the insurance company. If Car fax won't pick it up I am not to worried about it. The repairs are guaranteed for as long as I own the car. I appreciate all the input. thanks
My Z is back in the garage for the winter...as a winter storm now approaches. I don't really want to pursue the issue any farther.. just don't want to get the short end later.
