Yeah, I love biking too and the lack of space in the Z is a real bummer. Last year I bought a Trek road bike at a local dealer. It took the owner and me 10 minutes of trial-and-error before we figured out how to put the damn thing in the car (we removed the front wheel). Ended up with a scratch on the plastic piece behind the seats. Bugs me everytime I look at it. Should have ridden the damn bike home. If I had to do it again, I would have brought towels to protect the interior. It can be done (at least with a road bike), but I wouldn't do it on a regular basis.

Z and bicycle... not going to happen in the trunk.

Unicycle, maybe.

Even if you wanted to put a roof rack on you Z, neither Thule or Yakima (better of the 2) makes a rack for the 350Z. No Fit!!!

That is why you need a second car.. like an Xterra off Road... or if you're like me and can't afford 2 nice cars, a 1986 VW Quantum Syncro to be a work horse for the biking habit.

Default bike rack for z

if you don't want to scrach your paint( and Z owners Don't) then you need to use a hitch mount rack. but I didn't want a receiver hanging down from under my car taking away from the cars sexy lines. i have made a bolt-on receiver that you can put in place when you want to transport your bikes. if you want to see some pics let me know.

+1 on the bike rack in the back. Front wheel in the trunk.

Simple answer is, don't waste your time. I'm an avid MTB/Freerider and I'd say there is no way to get one of my bikes in there without tearing the Z up. I bought a frame(only) shortly after getting my Z, and it alone couldn't be squeezed into the hatch. I had to drive home with it in the passenger seat. Good thing I didnt trade in my Dakota when I bought the Z! Its nice to have for biking on the weekends, and in December, January and February when the Z is put on Rollers and pushed in the corner of garage for snow season.

Have you ever ridden a Bike Friday? There are several very successful bicycle racers who choose to ride one. I know you won't see one in the Tour since support won't have the correct wheels, etc. But they definitely have models for those who care about performance. Please check out this page for more info: www.bikefriday.com/bf/racing
