Default OEM Car Cover Question

For those of you who have the OEM car cover, is the material that touches the car different from the outer material?

Is it canvas-like or does it have a soft/light feel to it?

I am asking because I took a look at covers on 2 different cars my buddy's have. One was very nice, like a durable silk, and the other was like a heavier canvas. The canvas one seemed like it was just a little too much of a heavy material - which is not what I want.

If the OEM is a heavy materials, please let me know which one you suggest as an alternative. I'm willing to pay for a new oem cover. (ie: 200'ish). This is mainly for in-garage use but should be indoor/outdoor.

The material is like a super thin nylon fabric or something with a very tight fine weave. The inside is a slightly different color than the outside but they seem the same. The whole thing can be folded down to the size of a fat phone book.

One of the frustrating parts about the cover is while folding it any slight breeze can blow it right off a waxed Z.

The only issue I have had with the OEM cover is the stitching around the clear plastic that goes over the licence plate. Very slight scratching on the paint if the cover is not exactly centered over the back of the car.

Very noticeable on Pikes Peak White. The cover will leave rub marks on the edges of the car. Very easy to remove with a little wax.

LOL. Installing or removing the cover in the wind is frustrating. The cover fills with air like a parachute. Sometimes I think that the cover is going to lift me into the air.
