Default 155 mph Speed Limiter

Did a quick search and found a bunch of threads of how fast people have been going... comments about a 155 limiter. Also verified w/ Nissan publications that there is indeed a limiter at 155mph...

Reason for my post... I recently (tonight on Hwy 59) pulled my 06' Z to 155 VERY easily barely in 6th gear... I didnt feel any restriction so I kept going.. It ramped up until the speedo was well into the 160 mark and the digital read out on the pod was still climbing. I found this odd as it was still pulling and I let off w/ it reading 162 on the pod... (I'll take a pic next time i do it, if I can find a passenger willing to go) *no cars on the freeway this late*

I was close but nowhere really near the 7k rpm redline.. i was expecting something similar to a revlimiter to stop the acceleration, but nothing.

Anyone else experience this? I'm sure the analog speedo is less accurate after 100 or so... but figure the digital one is good to read by.

No mods, stock ECU... just wondering if anyone has also gone over the supposed 155 limit....

I dont think I have a speed limiter.

I clocked 174 on Interstate 8 East bound on the way to Yuma.

This is just a story (plausible deniability).

59 & beltway 8... going North to downtown (where i live) it was around 11:30-12am actually... usually its early enough w traffic, but 2 left lanes completely open for over a mile or so. I got to 150 suprisingly quick so kept going... this thing feels better after 100 than it does below it... top end isnt too shabby..

wow over 170!! even w/ turbos... that is awesome! no limiter affect either eh?... seems like its pretty common... maybe i should rephrase the question: who HAS hit the supposed limiter?!

I've heard reports that the '06's are not limited... but I've never personally driven an '06, so hell if I know??? I've pegged the 159 limiter in my '04 plenty of times though.. BTW, both speedos are inaccurate at those speeds. 159 on the speedos is more like 155-156 in reality.

I let OFF at 155 . . . . cuz there was a car in front. Gonna try it once I get my car back, but then again I'm telling Rob to take off my stupid limiter . . . . lol.

I have yet to see how fast mine can go, fastest to date is 150 but I am always scarred of a cop being around the corner. Already ran from one during a friendly street race with a friend and nearly had a heart attack, don't know how I made it out of that one b/c it sure as hell wasn't my mad F&F racing skillz (that was a joke). The day I decided to stop being so paranoid I got a ticket for going 110 in a 65, in actuality the cop thought I was a nice guy and didn't want to arrest me b/c I was really going about 130-135 He tried to keep up in his unmarked car but once he realized I was loosing him the lights came on. I thought it was just some kid in a Malibu that was messing around with me so I did a couple of pulls to show him his daddy man was I wrong. Court date next Wed. wish me luck, I am going to bring my Vaseline so the *** raping wont hurt as bad. Wish there was a stretch of road here in NC where I can push my baby to the limit and not have to worry about this. Anyone?

I'm not sure what Nissan's acceptable tolerance limits are for the Speed, but when I had my Stealth, Mitsubishi felt an acceptable tolerance for the 3000gt/stealth speedo was +/- 10% of the current reading!!!

If Nissan doesn't have tight tolerances, you may have very well been going slower or faster than you thought (within a few mph i would assume though)

Thanks for the kind words man. I am really not the type of guy that races at every light or drives like an idiot all the time but after having put blood, sweat and tears into this car I would like to at least run her to its full potential from time to time. How else could I justify spending so much on this project? I hear ya on those twisties. I go to Tail of the Dragon every once in a while for that. Great rush
