Certainly, because motorcycle engines are made of cast iron blocks with titanium pistons, rings, and valvetrain, while 6 cylinder car engines are made of fragile glass with a "THIS WAY UP" sign stamped on the block


And of course motorcycle engines only rev to 11,500 + rpm, while 6 cylinder car engines rev to a mighty 7,000-9000 rpm.

I will read the manual and the other trick...I know that mercedes dont require break ins..or at least AMG, they get tried and tricked from the factory.

Some of us are planning on keeping it for as long as mechanically possible. I appreciate your method of breaking in your vehicles, but I'll stick with the manufacturers recommended procedure (which is what I did).

And to add further to our confusion, Nissan Europe does NOT recommend any break-in period, and you won't find a word on it in the owner's manual.

I used the Motoman method for breaking in. Car runs hard and doesn't use a drop of oil. Go figure

I would never fault anyone sticking to the owner's manual for break-in, maintenance, etc. Hell, it's the owner's manual, you'd better be able to trust the info in there...lol. I just think there's a better way, that's all. It's not *too* different than many of the people in here that switch to synthetic oil, then change their oil every 4-6k miles, instead of the recommended 3k, or using Redline/Motul in the diff/tranny when the owners manual states "Nissan Tranny Oil ####### only.

The breakin period is overrated and most ppl don't even read the owners manual. Furthermore, even if the longevity of the motor is reduced (no proof one way or the other), most ppl will sell the car long before the engine breaks. I drove my 06 easy for the first 400 miles and then I added TT and drove it like I stole it. I'm up to 4500 miles and it runs perfect.
