I went autocrossing last weekend. And i just couldnt seem to have enough air in the tires. I had them at 45 psi cold front and rear. They ended up climbing to 49 psi hot. The bridgestones say 51 psi max, is that hot or cold?

uhhh dude, what the hell are you talkin about????!!!!!
first off, recomended is 35cold, and I think the concencus is that its a bit high, I run 32cold, 35-36 hot.
HOWEVER, why would you EVER pump up your tires? some sort of trick in an autocross that you raise your tire pressure? you know you get more traction with less pressure right??? never heard of anyone increasing pressure for a race....
EDIT, I was running 29 hot when I was drag racing, and I wish I had taken it down to like 24 in the back.

It didnt help that it was in a parking lot that wasnt smooth at all. On one run they showed wear on half of the side wall at 49 psi, the rear tires were the only ones with problems fronts were fine.
So does anyone know if the max pressure is cold or hot?
