yep. 70mph in 6th-->clutch in-->blip to slightly above 5 bucks-->stick to 3rd--->drop clutch just as revs drop down to 5k. if you do it fast enough you should rev almost exactly to 5k and drop right on it. you'll know you rev matched it by the fact that the car doesnt lurch when you drop the clutch.
anyone else feel free to correct me. i'm still learning but this is what works for me. i checked today and 70mph in 3rd gear is pretty much dead on the line 5k rpms

5th to 2nd.
But....with the AT......when you F up, you can't just push in the clutch either.

No worries. I was doing about 85 once, and downshifted into 3rd from 6th. I let the clutch out WAY to fast, lousy revmatch, and the rear end locked up for a second. Scary when it happens, but its been fine since.
To the OP, I am surprised that even let you go into 3rd at that speed. You didn't have to force it at all?

I was busy getting on the freeway when I did a 3rd->2nd mishift at WOT. The needle was bouncing past 8k for a couple of seconds. It's like an earthquake. Thankfully, the motor survived?! O_o

Down shifting to too low of a gear is a good way to rape your motor.
