Default what if i dont want exhaust!?

i searched a lil bit but found nada. will the Z still make decent power gains while still having the stock exhaust on?

im thinkin a spacer, intake manifold, cams (valves, retainers, springs), flywheel, and a 3.9FD. oh oh oh, and a nismo cold air intake. i like the sound of intake at full throttle rather than exhaust.

so ya stock exhaust?

Question

Would you buy a new set of "dress" clothes and wear them with an old pair of sneakers?

tell you the truth.. unless if your going to drop some major cash on your Z. You won't get much power out of it if your going full n/a but if you get FI then an exhaust is a must. the Nismo exhaust is about the same as the stock with a little lower tone. I think you'll love it

ive heard the nismo before, its nice.... that would be the one i would get if i did get exhaust.

so even if i got crazy with NA, it wouldnt make that big of a difference with the stock exhaust???

like 11:1 pistons and I WISH i could afford that top secret individual throttle bodies kit!

im hoping NISMO does with the VQ with what they did with the sr20 and rb26.. make more and more parts for the motor after its production run. cuz the vq is in so many cars, they HAVE to make a grip of parts for it.

I made good gains with my mods and I only removed the cats. Stock headers & cat-back currently.

All the bolt on turbos uses stock exhaust during research phase and none recommend opening up the exhaust or even adding one on. That means if you have one of the 4 popular kits, your stock exhaust was built the way they tested it and adding an exhaust can alter the cars tune and downpipe fitment of what was intended. The exhaust is not the limitation of the Z till past 700 hp IIRC.

If you want the intake sound, go with a popcharger, you'll hear it a lot more than a CAI. Look into the Borla True Dual exhaust as well, it sounds like stock but more V8ish, you might like it.

Personally, the exhaust is the first thing you modify.

But if you keep the stock exhaust system, you're not fully exposing the beautiful sound a VQ can make. Ignore the farting and pooping comment when thinking of this beautiful sound ...

The most restrictive part of the factory exhaust is the Y-Pipe... Replace that and you are fine...

The stock exhaust is heavy though... so you wont get that weight reduction gain...
