My dealer is calling the Nissan Tech folks to see what to do next. I am not expecting much. We shall see.

There is a 91 page service document for dealers to follow when it comes to oil consumption...

Tells them what to do as far as testing and procedures...

Is your original motor the 300hp (rev-up) or the 287 hp motor?

I was talking to a dealer today about this and he said they had the same problem with the Altimas. What it ended up being was a company that supplied seals made a bad batch, so dude says. Iunno... I tend to take everything coming out of a dealers mouth as half-trues.

ive done an oil consumption test once already. the head service manager told me that is after the third time if it doesnt stop he will replace the engine. i have a 06 and i just got a new tranny and clutch. but i think im going to lemon my car after the 3rd test if it doesnt stop. i rather get my money back and get something else then deal with this problem again with another Z.

no dont threaten them, just fill out the forms and send them in, thell have one last chance to fix it, and if they dont you get a new a car, thats probably why he offered to replace the engine after 3 failed tests though, but you need to send in the paperwork after the 3rd test (it was actually a bad idea for him to wait for the third) then for their last attempt they will probably replace the engine, and if that one even fails once, new car, but if you wait till after they replace the engine to send in the work, they will be able to swap the engine out a second time before you get a new car
