Default AC Freaking Out?!?!

It's wierd I've got an 05', to save on gas I don't use the AC. Every now and then the AC turns on, full blast most of the time. I have to turn it on then back off to turn it off. Is this an issue or normal?

That's strange. Sounds like an issue to me. It should be covered under warranty.

I find it annoying how the ac kicks on every time you want the fan on, but that's a normal "problem".

I think the AC mode **** is defective. I have seen this problem also, when the **** is turned to the OFF position. I found that the AC starts randomly, causing the fan to run full blast. If I turn the **** gently counterclockwise (i.e. more OFF), the system turns off. Note: while the **** does *not* appear to move, the system does turn off. I think either the electronics are overly sensitive or there is a mechanical defect in **** itself.

My car does exactly the same thing as zdated's. Once in a while the fan turns on full-blast. I very rarely use the AC.

mine only turns on when its on auto every time i crank the engine. If i hit the a/c off button, the a/c stays off. i cycle the a/c once in a while even in the winter time to keep the seals lubricated.

I have the same problem 2 months ago. The AC will just turn on full blast by itself when it is at the off position. I didn't care about it too much until last month when all my gauges, radio and AC went dead. The light on the gauges are on, but they are not functional. I took it to the dealership right away and they told me there were a short in the wirings and this might be related to the AC problem too. It took them a week to order and install the new wiring harness, but I don't have the AC problem anymore.
I will suggest you to bring your car back to the dealership and hopefully it is still under warranty.
