I still think it's kind of odd to have a LS1 in a Z. It's sorta like an inter-racial relationship. Don't flame me now! NOOO! I'd drop a Titan engine in instead. It's been done before as a drift car. Or... why not put in an RB26?

BOTH THE RB25 AND RB26DETT ARE HEAVIER ENGINES, I ALREADY CHECKED INTO THIS, JAMES EVANS OF JE HAS A BAD A$$ RB26 G35 (COVER OF TURBO MAG) SO THERE A SECOND REASON. I'D LIKE TO BE ORIGINAL. THE LS1'S POTENTIAL IS TRULY SUPERIOR TO JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ON THE MARKET...
THE NISSAN TITAN V8 COSTS MORE THAN THE LS1, IS ALSO HEAVIER, AND HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE AS WELL. NOT TO MENTION A LIMITED AFTERMARKET. I HAVE COVERED ALL BASES WITH MY RESEARCH.

Whatever floats your boat brother. Just hate to see another Baltimore local losing the VQ! Btw, LS1 swap in a Z33 has been done before.

Do you have any pictures or links as to who already did this swap?

The haters will have their feet in their mouths when you walk them on the stock LS1.

I think that this swap has potential. Anyone can research going all out on the VQ, TT, etc, the money being dropped is huge. And then the build is no good, as happened to one member. $3K clutches etc. I understand that the VQ has great potential, but IMHO it is just not a very economical engine to build. Never mind the handful of machine shops that have experience with it. I think you would be hard pressed to find a machine shop that didn't have a long relationship with chevy small blocks, built blocks are out there in all kinds of configurations, etc.

Good luck on the project.

It Never Hurts To Run Your Car At The Track Or To Hang Out Up There A Few Nights A Month And Talk To Some People. You Will Know Exactly What You Can And Cant Beat, Moded Or Unmodded. Then I Like To Let The Fun Begin On The Street. **** I Even Know What My Beater Station Wagon Can Beat On The Street. Its All About The Reseach.

This is a great project you have my respect if you pull this off. The LS1 is a great engine and is very light and you will have less heat soak due to the alumium block. I had a ls1 before I got my Z and with very few mods its a beast. Are you going to go with the stock heads? You should upgrade them or port them out before the build, upgrade the cams to maybe a 550/560. lift some full lengnth headers and we are talking an extra 70hp this engine loves breathing mods. If you go SC I hear vortec is nice. I was going to go with A magge because I like the bling and it sits right on top of the engine.
Good Luck.

Are you cutting and then pasting into the threads? its seems like whatever you are using is capitalizing the first letter in each word...

Anyhow, good luck with the swap.

Cheers,
