And what's the matter with "inter-racial relationships" there Hitler?

I say do it. It would definitely be fast and worth the money, and I have yet to see one. Keep us posted!

I say do it too, but don't make us all wait until June!

Truth be told, the thought of doing the same thing has crossed my mind recently, I just don't know who could do the fab work for me here in town.

Good luck!

lol... call me Mao instead of Hitler. So after a LS1 swap in a Z, do you consider it a Japanese car or an American car? It's funny to call a car "mixed".

I can't wait to see the clips.

If you do a search on youtube for "LS1 FD" you'll see a bunch of clips with Rx7's with LS1's. It's just strange matching the sound of a v8 to a rotary car.

It'll never have that low end torque that a V8 does though! I test drove a new GTO the other day, and really liked the engine, but not necessarily the car as a whole. All I could think about the whole way home was swapping in an LSx in my Z, lol.

Please do this, I would rather spend $10,000 for this swap then $15,000+ for twin turbos and broken transmissions and all the other head aches of going fi.

....and you think the stock transmission will be perfectly fine with the V8 engine?

hmm I've been thinking about the LS engine for a while, and I'm to a point where I'm heavily considering it over a built VQ motor. You just can make much more power with the bigger motor of course and for the money I'm investing it makes sense. I need to do my research though on FI options for the LS platform. Hmmm. Thanks for posting this, it may get me to go that route instead

He said he was also going to to use the t56 gm tranny and get a custom drive shaft, so this swap would kill two birds with one stone.

Do most of these idiots have any idea how ridiculous they sound? DOLLAR for DOLLAR, The VQ CANNOT!!!!!!!!!!!! match the performance of the LS motors. If I'm not mistaken, aren't you getting the 405 hp C5 Z06 engine? BTW, I'm the guy that bought the test pipes from you. The engine is ridiculously light and even at 600+ WHP can be punished all day long and still live to drive that weekend. Can the VQ do that without putting ridiculous amounts of money into it? I think not.... But to each is own... Your car is going to be a boulevard brawler when you are finished. Keep us posted..

i dont know 2 much about the LS motors or that they can take 600 hp all day stock block... but power to weight owns all your car will still be in the 3000 lb weight range w/o modification.. you could be that in a CTSV c5 z06 or what ever .. with factory coverage haha and you need to figure out what your going to do with P/S, A/c on the LS and window controlls etc in the Z .. i dont know what ems they use or if they are still carb haha j/p. but besides the wow factor and being original all you will get is a new exhaust note and pains in the *** i would swap this into a 240 or miata to have a 10 k toy.. my boy is putting a 2jz in a miata as i type... but in the Z doesnt make sence to me at this moment who knows maby this thread will have me with an LS motor keep us posted..
Failsafe.. thats what you think the Z is lacking low end TQ ? thanks again for the APS fuel system works great

My friend is running consistant 10's in his small shot of spray on slicks combo on the stock transmission in his 2001 z06. The transmissions aren't bad, and rebuilds to handle all kinds of power can be had for not much at all. I have other friends in the 10's with the same transmission, but they are slightly built.

Do it. Whoever said the VQ would cost the same to mod as an LS series motor should be banned from this board.

I'd agree $ for $ there are way cheaper parts for the LS than there are for the VQ. and if your going to go with the titan engine you'll find it to be the same case..

I think if you were able to keep the ecu, exhaust and cats you could possibly even get the car referee'd to make it a 100% legal swap.
